Re: The passing of Don S

Actually we are looking for pics. Can't find any. Help is apprecated.
Here is one of two that I know of floating around,

The other one is a photo of his boat at a dock that I believe has a rainbow in the back ground taken earlier this year I believe it was.

I did a search of "Ketchikan" Alaska to find this one, I can not recall the name of the other port that he had his boat in? Anyone remember?

Just ran across the other one today in an archived topic brought up. Post #'s 21 and 26,

Re: The passing of Don S

A few years back, Don stored all his images/drawings and PDF files he used at a file sharing website. I went in and copied every thing he had. Now that I think of it, I will see what photos are in there.

I may have to put everything in a zip file and share with everyone. Mainly Volvo stuff.

Don S HELP PLEASE!!! :) Is the water there salty or fresh? Do you recommend open or closed cooling for my Volvo Penta. You will be missed by all but maybe one day we can raft-up together again. May the winds and seas be calm for your nearest and dearest family and friends. RIP my friend!!

That amazingly seems the way I pictured Don in my head. Thanks so much for sharing.

Sorry to say we never met, but the advice and wisdom was beyond value. Thanks for the patience (and impatience, LOL!!! when I needed a tap on the back of the head now and again...!).
I will remember you through my boating days as the one who got me on the right track....and Thank You.

Fair winds, my friend...

Shocking news. It's hard to imagine the forum without him. He definitely had a knack for keeping us in line and away from shortcuts that we already knew wouldn't work. He was an irreplaceable asset and his knowledge and candor will be greatly missed.

Wow, that's some seriously sad news. Is the site doing anything for his family? Wife? Donations or something?

This has taken a while for it to sink in. I have tried to write something for days. I'm at a loss for words, so forgive me...

Don helped everyone he could whenever he could. He was generous with his wisdom and we are all the better for it. My next vessel will bear his name in honor of the man and the mountains of help he gave me.

It is becoming clear to most of us that the iboats community, along with a few other forums, were Don's primary family. We have posted the link to the Mortuary above, and we will let you all know how any arrangements unfold.

Re: The passing of Don S

There is something about a guy who doesn't have to help, but does. It seems as though he felt a responsibility to help where he could; out societies could learn from that.

I've never met Don, but feel like I have. Even with the anonymous nature of the internet, quality comes through.

I know the value of the donation he has made to people's lives. It is immense.

Here's to DON!!!!

Man just read this. I had been looking through the I/O section for the first time in a while, waiting for a reply to come from Don then saw AChris' signature.

Like everyone else, Don bailed me out countless times. He had patience for stupidity; until he didn't.

Godspeed Don.
