Sweet! now you've got a tender for the Sunray! I used to have 10.5 foot RIB with a 30hp 2-stroke on it and let me tell you, that thing could move.... engine didn't weigh much either.... I think you could put a 50 on there no problem! :D

Very cool, I'd love to have that at my lake place. That would be great for zipping around in the cove!

Re: Tallcanadian's 1976 Sunray Refresh.

Bit of acheivement this weekend. I got the boat off the trailer and flipped over. As you can see, I have some work to do on the bottom. And I can see that my bunks need to be adjusted as well. Now if only the rain will hold off and it warms up, I can get to work. Actually the sanding I can don even on bad days but I noticed some fiberglass work need on the bottom of the hull. I beach my boat a lot and it did wear a hole in the front. So, I'll need some work done there.

No people, just me. Must have had a ''beverage'' break.

Beverage break huh lol,
I don't know about that, I check in from time to time always see a boat under a tarp once I saw your neighbor leave :).

I think you have gremlins that work on the boat at night while you sit back and enjoy cold beverages and supervise :D

Ahh what a life lol

Re: Tallcanadian's 1976 Sunray Refresh.

Now today. I took my trailer to buddies house to ''swap out'' axles, springs, wheels. Well, there was no swap. The new springs are shorter than the original, so we had to relocate the front hangers. That was easy enough. Then we discovered that the new axle is 48" spring centre. Well the original axle was 47" spring centre. No big deal? Guess again. What to do. I was thinking making the trailer wider. My buddy, which is why I went to him, is a welder and metal fabricator. He had to make the hangers bend the right amount to accommodate the wider springs. He did an awesome job. Looks great and it still tracks true. Phew. Then I had him add the braces for the fenders and a small platform behind the wheel so I can get in a out of the boat when she's on the trailer. It turned out very nice. As you can see, I ordered bigger fenders than what I should have, that it to accommodate bigger tires in the future if I should decide too. In the meantime, I don't think they look that bad.

LOL. Hey Bill, I have to work between the rain drops to get my work done. Good idea about the gremlins though. You may be on to something there.

I like those little tires, perhaps I should swap out to those instead of the 4 tires I'm using on my tandem to get the boat lower for easier launch/retrieves. Guess I'll just have to make that decision when I get the boat done.

BTW, no rain here...it's been snowing cottonwood all week, and the temps hit 97 today! I got the pool set up for the kids and did a little bit of work on the wifes truck before noon, and called it a day. I'm in enjoying the A/C for the rest of it.

Glad to see you got the trailer finished without to much hassle and made offset shackles , I probably would have had a brain fart and spent 2 days grinding and moving perches  .

Oh and with the gremlins I was actually able to get a pic of one, She is actually the one that rebuilt my drive, I just took the credit. I call her my Caity :) Notice how she puts her shoulder into turning a wrench A real pro in action :D

Send some of that heat this way, please. It's around 48 here. Tolerable but no good for painting boats. lol. Those tires are 16.5 X 6.5 X 8. They are also rated for 715lbs each. My old ones were 5.70 X 8. The trailer doesn't look lower but I'll know better when I get the boat back on. I know the axle now sits almost 4" back so I may have to adjust where the boat sits as well.

Re: Tallcanadian's 1976 Sunray Refresh.

UPDATE:

Rain. It's been raining for 5 days now and is expecting another 3 or 4. It's cold, 5C (41F) and the wind is strong and from the north. It just plain sucks. The only thing I was able to do was after I had my boat trailer fitted with new axle, tires, etc, and relocate the hangers, I brought it home and stripped it down again to get it ready for paint. Nothing fancy, but I'm going to paint it to match the boat. That is if it ever stops freakin raining. However I'm happy to see a couple of splashes on the forum this past week so I'm very happy for you guys and hope to see a few more in the coming weeks.

Just found this tonight. Very good work. I will definitely be checking back often.

1. In reference to post #70, were you able to make the glass repairs to the bottom of the boat?

2. Still in post #70, you stated you beach your boat often. Have you looked into a keel guard? I found one for my boat for around $150.00 a coupla' years ago and I really like it. I can beach right on the boat ramp if I choose to, without any worry. That material is stout.

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't repaired the bottom yet, It's been raining pretty much since I posted that. If not rain, then cold and drizzly. Very depressing. I did see those keel guards and may have to look more into that or something similar. I know I can get metal keel guard but I would have to drill screws into it and unless I can guarantee myself that I can seal it enough, then I'll hold off. I just thought of something that may work. My rub rail that I bought when I did my rebuild 3 years ago, I still have a length of that left over. If I used 5200 on that, that just may work. hmmmm.

Thanks for looking in.
