For those of you with boats in the water, do you pull them out?

The smart ones do.

Not me, though...

Re: "SUPER STORM" for the northeast?

which boat WAS yours??

Both. That's my yard.

The boats are still there, but both ends of the pier are gone. Well, not gone. They washed up against the house.

I don't have much hope for the little boat. It's attached to a 2-piling lift, and the pilings are no longer attached to the pier.

Tow vehicle's broke, and the forcast was for only a 2' surge, which my pier could handle. I figured I'd risk it.

I am not a smart man...

Schnikies! I didn't realize that was actually your boat, until I looked at your sig pic :eek: (How did the storm surge affect your area?)

Be safe and I hope everyone in the storm path fairs well.

We can hope that, but this is closer to the sobering truth:

"The days ahead are going to be very difficult," Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley said. "There will be people who die and are killed in this storm."

There are a lot of "holdouts" that ignored the mandatory evacuation orders... watch and listen to them scream bloody murder in the next few days.

I don't understand these people, I guess they've never paid attention to what has happened to other people in storms like this in the past and other parts of the country.

So then, are you riding it out in the little building in the last pic?

one of the missing crew members has been found ...unresponsive, but being rushed to hospital. captain still missing.

When ever I hear of a tragedy like this the last line of the Navy Hymn always comes to mind;

?O hear us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea?

Is that so. Hmm. Do you have any idea just how ridiculous that statement is?

Well my northern friend I have reason to doubt you've ever endured a major hurricane in FL, so I'm willing to cut you some slack. But lemme tell ya the looters'n pillagers come outa the woodwork. Like rats off a sinking ship. What're you gonna defend your family and property with, a hug?!

I'm a cop. Thats why I find your statement misleading to others. I know many men that can draw from a holster and put two on target far faster than anyone slinging a shot gun over his shoulder could ever hope to get on target.
Family is one thing but looters aren't looking to take your family. If you think your tv is worth your life thats your point of view.
If I had family that was going through this, I would not tell them to arm themselves and get ready to kill over property.
I don't know the laws down south. What are you allowed to do if two guys are hauling off your tv? In Canada, if you shoot someone doing this its called homicide.

"People are gonna die and be killed in this storm". Brilliant! Frankly I'd rather die than be killed thank you. Another Governor has advised his constituents to "not do anything stupid". If only I posessed their eloquence I coulda gone far in politics ...

Hey if people wanna live and die on their property that's their business. Hopefully nobody kills them ...

Sandy kicked my butt today. Goin to bed and back to it first light. Gusts 90+. Blowin 60 steady. 7.5 ft surge and rising. Lost fences , shingles, gutters, etc.. But still standing and relatvely dry. Be safe.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that... but it's these same ones that start screaming for someone to come rescue them when things start getting rough, putting the lives of the response teams in danger and taking them away from other duties they should be performing instead of rescuing someone that was told to leave.

If the holdouts want to stay and die of exposure or be killed by flying debris that's fine, just keep your mouth shut while it's happening... if you're going to be dumb, ya gotta be tough.

Then perhaps you should familiarize yourself with FL law. We're blessed with what's called the "Castle Doctrine". Which means that a mans house is is castle, and he may defend it with deadly force if necessary. (Imagine that.) We also have a "stand your ground" law which means if you are attacked by an assailant and are in fear for your life you may take deadly force.

I don't give a rats *** about my TV or any of that crap. I've always said if someone want's my identity, no need to steal it, hell they can have it! But what I do care about is what used to be called dignity or self respect. I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna sit by and watch some scumbag walk away with that. And if you think looters aren't looking to take your family? Think again.

Put a double tap into the center of mass? Hell that's why I carry a Glock 19 on my hip.

Now for more storm updates ...
