Re: "SUPER STORM" for the northeast?

The last one turned into Punta Gorda instead of coming further North. I got home as fast as I could and there they were. You have no business in a waterfront nice area. 3 guys in a $500 pickup driving around and there was more than one. They knew I knew. No police no cell phones, no power, no one else around. They went elsewhere. Two hours later the police blocked off the main entrance and would not let anyone in without ID.

I have no intention to hurt someone. But to think you can just come in and take what I've worked hard for it ain't happening.

Re: "SUPER STORM" for the northeast?

So is this a repeat of "the perfect storm" or is it different?

a few days ago the weather channel was throwing that phrase around, but I have not heard the call this the perfect storm in the last few days.

If you want to be sporting a shotgun to protect whatever you are putting yourself at risk of being shot
Is that so. Hmm. Do you have any idea just how ridiculous that statement is?

Well my northern friend I have reason to doubt you've ever endured a major hurricane in FL, so I'm willing to cut you some slack. But lemme tell ya the looters'n pillagers come outa the woodwork. Like rats off a sinking ship. What're you gonna defend your family and property with, a hug?!

No, I believe they're calling it "Frankenstorm". Catchy, timely too ...

Re: "SUPER STORM" for the northeast?

Spent most of last night with a house fire and an accident with entrapment. Was really hoping for a good nights rest before the heavy rains and wind started this afternoon and are projected to go through the night. Oh well, looks like 3 sleepless nights in a row.

My work (downtown Boston) got called off for today . . . tomorrow will probably be just as bad in the Boston area . . . so, I am wondering if they will have to cancel work for tomorrow as well. :)

Man I hope it goes well for the crew....that is the only thing that matters; but when something like this happens there is always that little voice way at the back of my head that can't help wondering "was there nobody in a position of authority that reads the weather forecasts?"
Latest is that 16 of the 17 crew got to life rafts....and 5 have been hauled up to a rescue chopper.

You can see grass...it 'aint no 30' Storm Surge like Waveland / Bay St Louis / Gulfport saw in Katrina.

Be Safe and give us some updates! # of folks w/o power etc. Pics are always awesome!

943 mb of Pressure, and the 1930's storm was at 946 mb. The Weather Channel is saying its stronger then they ever predicted due to the monster nordeaster.

Jersey Shore is expected to get wiped... this might be an understatement but I can imagine life will be different there for a cpl years after this storm.

The building codes up there are nowhere near what Florida see's so the concern is large and tall building will throw debris and parts of the structure will fail...interesting.

Over 1million expected to be without power, some for weeks. 100mph+ winds sustained, 60mph+ consistent over a 400mile wide span.

Stay SAFE EVERYONE!

Here is an article for 5 "apps" to get you through a natural disaster lol:

Re: "SUPER STORM" for the northeast?

Had drizzle this morning on way into work. Rain and wind just picked up here. Nothing major yet, just appears to be normal everyday rain storm. But if it keeps picking up, it will get nasty. NY politicians emailed out everyone emergency contact numbers to have on hand should the need arise.

We still have leaves on the trees where my cars and boat are stored - all outdoors, nothing I can do about it. Hopefully this is is bad as it gets but forecast is saying something else so we'll see...

Crossing fingers and toes this is as bad as she gets this far inland!

**Not minding the amount of rain as we desperately need it to raise the lake levels around here.
