finished fitting Gil sea strainer tonight
1.5" fitting coming into sea strainer
will clean HX in weekend with chemicals
Then need to look at where the HX will be positioned
Unfortunately the water cooled exhaust are still making there way here as would be nice to have these fitted to get an idea where they will located to ensure no obstructions for the exhaust

cleaned up the heat exchanger in weekend
#1 HX: 4 hour soak with CFS product
#2 HX: 12 hour soak over night

Not much difference
very pleased with results

the solution should be good for 10-12 treatments

thanks, didn't think about that option
However its done now

Been working on trailer, went over and tact welded the support brackets for the bunks in weekend, yesterday had day off and finished welding the brackets, ground off the weld/slag and put a fresh coat of undercoat on trailer
taking off the axles/springs today and will turn over trailer on axle stands and undercoat all
the hard to get places on underside, then top coat
decided to top coat with epoxy paint not sure what colour yet

Jay, thanks for the comments,
Before proceeding with the project boat I also looked through your videos on the rebuild and gave me confidence to go it alone on my project
although the project is a little different as starting with just the hull and fitting out boat is time consuming at least now hard yards with fibre glassing are behind me, and now the exciting part of putting stuff back into boat

Hope things of personnel level are back on the mend
cheers
Brett

Into the trailer in weekend
Disassembled the trailer frame from twin axle/guards
flipped trailer frame over
painted Wattyl epoxy gloss pewter (grey) onto bottom of trailer,
Temperature was around 12 C, so managed to get 2 coats on before temperature dropped further in evening

Had the grey epoxy paint under bench so thought might as well use this while Im looking for colour

Considering boring epoxy black gloss, or quite like the bright green, something different

using the CBS solution to clean up one set of springs at time (15 hr dunking) , and paint as well after cold galvanising, then primer and top coat
should be able to get the other set of springs into the CBS solution tomorrow
Hopefully get springs/axle inside mud guards all painted ready for final paint colour in weekend

Then can turn attention to the trailer bunks
I replaced with new gal disc brakes, new bearing, 18 months ago

Anyone have in experience building engine hatch?
Was crawling around the boat tonight, getting some dimensions, and see what type of design would be beneficial
Im thinking to add electric/hydraulic ram to lift the engine hatch, never had anything to do with them in past

I uploaded some pictures

Seems 2 doors to lift from centre of boat
I have 300mm height from front of block to top of gunwale, so for engine with carb should be under the engine hatch
However I'm thinking of running the twin turbo, draw through setup to start with

area is 1880mm across transom inside the gunwales
length from transom is 1110,mm
in front of engine in between gunwales: 1952mm
see attached sketch (not the prettiest)

any ideas?

or is it better to use one large engine hatch and hinge from the rear deck?

waiting for the longer column for the Char Lynn hydraulic steering, so can set up the steering and seats
looks like the container with water cooled headers leaving USA, has been delayed some 20 days, so arriving now 20th July

so carry on with trailer
pulled it apart, and cleaned all rust/oxide off trailer

nice frosty week down to 1 C, then warms up to 12 C, sun comes out, get out there and slap some paint on the trailer

2 coats epoxy primer
2 coats epoxy grey top coat
1 coat epoxy lime green top coat

with lime green trailer..............shouldn't lose the trailer in parking lot, it may even deter someone from pinching it
went through all the bolts/nuts replaced with new nyloc nuts,

need to turn trailer over, and give top of trailer coat of cool lime green

Figure the boat/trailer is going to be close to 1750kg so will need to look into some dics brakes on one of the axles

got back from Asia in weekend,
straight into trailer
assembled trailer now
just top coat of lime green paint on top side to do, and then on to bunks
Need:
1* 3100x290x30mm for keel
2* 3300x75x45mm for bunks

was looking at using Merbau (a little more costly) or F17 hardwood down under
looks like need to but air operated stabler and monel staples
