Drool... Yep, really nice looking, I could probably even get to love the red interior... Maybe it's a tad orange-ish red, but whichever, GREAT looking!

Here's one for ya: Long story...

http://albany.craigslist.org/boa/3102078035.html

1968 15' Starcraft Holiday Restoration Project - $900 (Waterford, NY)
Date: 2012-06-26, 10:53AM EDT

Up for sale is a fantastic piece of american made history.

There is a story behind this boat.
Knapicks Marine in Amsterdam, NY was having a summer long garage sale. They have several outbuildings that have collected boat parts for the better part of 45+ years. I visited the store one day in search of parts for another boat i completely restored. I found this boat amongst others hidden in the rafters on the second floor of the main outbuilding. A diamond in the rough. I found the usual raccoon poop etc inside. As i dug around, i found all the additional parts for it. I made an offer and brought it home to restore this summer after my other boat was done. Mike at Knapicks said the boat had been registered and on the water for only a couple years and then put up in the rafters on a trade. There is sat for FORTY YEARS until i bought it. It was like in the movie 'The Goonies' when Mikey and the kids find Chester Copperpots treasure map in the attic of Mikey's house.
Mike at Knapicks wasn't even sure if they had the registration for the boat to be able to sell the boat to me. After some digging, they found the original hard plastic registration card they used back in the 60's which showed the last time it was registered was 1971.
On to the boat.
The boat is in gutted shape, It will need new everything. Magically, the only thing it does not need is a transom. The boat was only on the water for a couple years and the ORIGINAL transom is in MINT condition. No dry rot or wet rot of any kind. WHO would even think that's possible? A 40+ year old boat who's transom is in perfect condition? I have all the original parts for it. Original bow light, stern light, step pads, handles, etc. NO I WILL NOT sell any parts off the boat. For those of you who know old starcraft boats, the stern lights on these boats go for a good $250 alone if in good condition. An uncracked windshield would probably go for $300+ if i chose to sell it. ALL these parts will go with the boat.
Structurally the boat is in fantastic condition. The rub rail does not need to be replaced, there are no major dents of any kind, and the lines are true and strait. I DO have the ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD for it and IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE with NO CRACKS!

The trailer. The trailer is a Shorelander. It will need some minor work. The rollers and bunks need replacing. It needs one new tire. and the winch needs replacing. These are all cheap parts which can all be purchased at Walmart. It currently is rigged for the 15' boat that it sits on but can easily accomodate up to an 18' boat if you make adjustments to the placing of the winch mast and bunks. The entire light harness with lights works 100 % and was replaced 2 years ago by the previous owner. One axle is new, the other is in perfect shape.

For those reading this, please understand that i know what the price for spot aluminum goes for. I'm not going to give this away for anywhere near less than that. I don't WANT to strip it down to aluminum, sell it for scrap, then sell the parts of the boat for several hundred dollars. Then sell the trailer for more cash. I want someone to come buy this that has the intention to restore it to it's previous beauty. I know it will take a lot of work and some money. I recently restored a 1977 Holiday which i just sold for asking price. SO i know what it will take. This boat is not for that guy who thinks he can throw a floor in it and shove off.

I'm selling this boat because i just bought my first house and sold my other boat because i have no time for either boating, or boat restoring. Now, i COULD just put this out back and wait to work on it when i have time, which i may do if this does not sell, but i would prefer someone take advantage of this fine american made product.

Some of you may want to buy just the boat, or just the trailer. I will in fact sell them separately but ONLY after the BOAT has sold first.
Boat price alone is $500 with EVERYTHING.
Trailer price is $500 alone.
Combo boat and trailer $900.
CASH ONLY. NO TRADES. NO PAYMENTS.
please call FIVE 1 EIGHT FOUR 7 Zero, five-8-4-NINE

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope I can find the right person for this boat.

That looks like a Jet, not a holiday. Its identical to mine, and in identical condition as purchased. He's going to have a fun time selling just a hull for $500! Lol

Yeah, that '74 won't last long I don't figure. My boat yard is way over full now. NO 18'+ rigs anytime soon. Besides, I'm not sure I could get a boat that size into the garage:facepalm: Smallest width door I've ever seen, I have to pull my passenger mirror in on my Dakota to get it thru the door.....

Thanks for the compliment, I enjoyed building it. I reckon I can get the Jet done, then get to the FireFlite, and eventually get to an extra rig in the wings 1 day:confused: Boat work starts in earnest tomorrow am. My 1st Stay-cation ever:cool: And plenty of boat work is available......
