Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

Hey guys,

Not much got done this weekend. I started the engine, well attempted to start it. Went great! for about 3 seconds. Thats when I think it ran out of gas. I believe its a 50:1 ratio (correct me if I am wrong please!). Il get a new batch brewed up, start it again, and hopefully, itll ROARRRRRRRRR! Il get a video as well.

I think thats it for now,

Have a good day.

From the 1965-68 service manual:
CONDENSED SERVICE DATA
TUNE-UP 33 hp 40 hp
Hp @ rpm 33 @ 4500 40 @ 4500
Bore—Inches 3,^ 3^
Stroke—Inches 2% 2%
Number of Cylinders 2 2
Displacement—Cubic Inches 40.5 43.9
Spark Plug
Champion J4J J4J
Auto-Ute A21X A21X
AC M42K M42K
Electrode Gap 0.030 0.030
Magneto Point Gap 0.020 0.020

Fuel-Oil Ratio 50:1

50:1 is 1/8 pint per gal

Napa should carry your plugs, probably the condenser & points too.

Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

Hey guys,

So Ive made some progress on the trailer. I took everything off and have started to sand the rust off and prep it for painting. I am using Rustoleoum's Paint and Primer in One, Satin Nickel. So far Ive painted the tongue and the beam that connects the tongue to the rest of the trailer. Ive sanded the fenders for the most part, sanded the stand that holds the winch, and sanded/painted the supports for the winch stand.

Some before and after shots of the roller mounts. Got 3 painted, 7 still attached to the rollers (4 are permanently attatched because Of the design. I will sand and paint them still) and the 4 mounts that connect to those on the roller. Also there are the fender and the hardware that holds the springs and the back of the trailer. Shouldn't be too much longer. Il try to get pictures of the trailer later tonight or tomorrow.

Still been working on the trailer. Everythings painted with the exception of a few roller mounts that need one final spot. Its been hard with this winter weather. Hopefully Saturday will be warm and I will finish the trailer up. Gonna start painting the boat shortly. I was wondering if I needed to use bottom paint. I plan on keeping the boat on the trailer so it wont be in the water for more than a day trip. Let me know what you guys think.

Trailered boats don't need or want bottom paint.

Trailered don't need bottom paint. Good prep, etch, prime & paint, yep, esp below the water line, but doesn't have to be an ablative (or the other type) bottom paint.

Thanks guys. Glad I found that out before I spent the extra money for the bottom paint.

Hey guys, Ive been thinking about the side panels on my boat. Im not 100% sure I want them. I know they would look more visually pleasing. If I dont put them up I would use a mesh bag to hold life jackets, towels, etc.

What are your thoughts?

The Jet Star isn't really that big of a boat so every inch counts.

I wouldn't put either the panel or the mesh bag along the sides eh.

I fully agree with that. Got room under the front deck? That's really the only decent sized space on a Jet Star. Otherwise it's just little spaces here and there. And you'll need every cubic inch!

I'm not sure whether you'll have a flat or curved floor or how you're going to handle the seats, but with the curved floor, I found some space under the seat boards. You could stuff some towels & small stuff in there.

Jasoutside- I really like the rod holders. Where did you get them?
Lake lover - there's some room up front, not much. I'm sure il figure something out. I was planning on putting as much insulation under the deck as possible so there would be no room.
