well one color is easier but the custom color deal is definitely the cooler way to go.

I am thinking I would go with one color, not sure which one though.

Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

With two bilge pumps, I would have one wired to a switch and the second one hooked to a float switch. That way the second pump will turn on when needed automatically. Your option on a switch for the auto pump, wired for auto or on. I have two pumps, one switched and the second is wired from the battery to a float switch. Never have to worry about switching it, always ready to go. When I'm prepping the boat, I reach under the splashwell and flip the float to test it.

That sounds like a very good idea! Does it matter, or is there an advantage of placing the one connecting to the battery on the left or right side of the bilge? I plan on putting the battery on the starboard side.

I don't know how much you plan to boat alone, but if you do you'll like the battery on the port side better for better weight distribution.

I like that idea, I guess thinking it out a bit longer and I would've thought of that!

Now, based on the gas tank on the starboard side, is there an advantage of the bilge pump with a float switch on the port side? The port side is the side with the drain hole, will this change anything?

Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

Ive been looking about the internet for the vinyl for the dash, and can't seem to find any...grr! Then I had an idea, since I am replacing the dash, could I epoxy, and then stain the wood rather then use vinyl?

Ive also been looking at bilge pumps, and I think Ive found a winner; however, it is an automatic, so im not sure how to do the wiring.
Here is the link: Amazon.com: Rule 25S Marine Rule 500 Automatic Marine Bilge Pump (500-GPH, 12-Volt): Sports & Outdoors
I would like to wire it up to this if possible: Amazon.com: Rule 41 Marine Deluxe Panel Switch (12-Volt): Sports & Outdoors

Have a good evening guys!

Stain 1st, then epoxy, yep. Just make sure the stain is well dried before applying epoxy.

The wood won't accept stain once it's sealed in epoxy. That's the whole point of the epoxy: sealing the wood so it won't absorb anything

Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

I don't know why that switch from Rule wouldn't work w/ a Rule bilge pump. It's kind of a lot of switch & panel for a Jet dash though.

I didn't read the switch description.... If you wire in a auto-float switch, will the light come on when the float auto cycles the pump on?

If you like the idea of the 3-position switch, you can find room to mount it, & you like the look of the panel & etc, sure, why not. It's your rig to build as you see fit.....

Thats true, it is alot, I just liked the ability to know when its running, even if its on automatic. Im not sure if it would light up if its an automatic switch. Im thinking of just making a 4-5 switch panel mounted in the center of the dash. Switch for Nav (3Pos), Bilge (3Pos), Couresty Lights (2Pos), Accessories(x2)

The only other things on the dash, would be the steering wheel and ignition switch.

Re: Starcraft Jet Star 15 Restore

Hows everybody doing? This past weekend, I tried finishing up cutting the side panels. Took a lot longer than expected and only got one done. Hopefully, I can get the other one done this weekend.

Ive been looking for new trailer rollers, since the current ones are in horrible condition. Ill post a diagram of the current ones in a seperate post, the rear sides rollers, look very similar to the keel. Also, I dont think they need to be 12" but Im not an expert.

Also, does anyone know where I can get quality trailer parts, especially tires, for a decent price? I think that's it for now, have a good evening !

Im an automitive service manager,I run a tire and service repair center and we do a ton of tires for trailers and RVs as well as the usual automotive stuff. As far as tires goes its kind of a judgement call to be honest. You can probably order them off the internet for pretty cheap. If youre going to get them put on wheels you already have then you will pay for mounting and new valve stems. If it were me I would just order tires already mounted on galvanized wheels. They come mounted with new valve stems. All you will need to know is if its a 4 or 5 lug.If you would rather buy local you will just have to do some calling around.

I was looking for tires that came mounted. Do you suggest a site to buy tires off?

Shipping to you in VA will be different then for me from many vendors.

Do you have a Tractor Supply Store close, I'm pretty sure they're in VA too. If on sale, they might be a bit cheaper then wally world, but wally trailer tires mounted on rims are usually the lowest cost here in WV... And they too go on sale....

If you can wait, Thanksgiving weekend Tractor Supply had rimmed 4.8X12 @$80 5lug rim & tire on sale for $54/ea. Which are under my Jet....

I should be able to wait until thanksgiving. I don't need the tires until I decide to splash the boat.
