Re: sold a boat and it busted!
ok, well I just read all 23 pages, with a meal and a bathroom break in the middle. I'm gonna have to agree with everyone I think. I can only assume that during the test drive, there were absolutly no problems with the engine, or else the kid never would have bought the boat right?? and I believe you cb when you say there were no problems that you knew of. So that being said, it's pretty obvious that any problems that occured with the boat, happened while it was the other guys property. So he only got 4 hours out of his ride? So what, where is the cut off exactly on how long you can own something before the prior owner is not responsible for any damage that may occur.
I bought a boat 3 years ago with an old 70 hp evinrude on it. the boat ran great during the trial run, but as I used it more, I had to start fixing small things, till eventually the crankshaft went after about a month of me owning it. I don't blame the previous owner, but the question has to be asked again, when would that cut-off day be that the prior owner is no longer responsible??? I mean, can CB go find the previous owner of the boat before him and hae him pay the 2100 bucks??? this is all just silly.
on a side note, I believe you said that it was gonna cost about 3 grand or so to fix the engine (and thats probably a inflated number), so buddy will have approx 7 G invested in this boat, which appears to be in great shape, and he will have a brand new enigne??? sounds like a great deal to me. That was a nice looking boat. Now that he's pulled all of that, he's gonna get that brand new engine almost for free, how is that fair to you??? this makes me angry, and I would buy that 10 dollar bag of dryer lint that someone else suggested.
I'm also upset that I spent so long reading this book, only to find out that the last couple of chapters are missing, and I have to wait at least a couple of months to find out how it ends, but I'll get over that.
