Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Haha, this is the best suspense Novel out there!

Sorry to hear this is going to continue on CB. I try not to get on here each day because I know the information will only trickle in... It's kind of like putting me in a round room and asking me to pee in the corner!

Good luck and as always, keep us posted.

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Delaying tactics can be very effective at wearing down an opponent. They are typically employed where there is a reasonable chance that you could lose. Nothing is 100% certain but this case seems to be as close to a slam dunk as they get. Curious about why the continuance rather than letting it play out to its logical conclusion? It's the safe bet but it does cost a bit more for the additional representation down the road, assuming they are in it for the duration. I guess that a couple of hours of legal time is cheap money if it gets them to drop the suit and you don't have to risk a judgement. No comment on pending litigation is the expected response here :-D

Speaking of salt, you may want to review the Massachusetts Lemon Laws. They DO include private party sales of road vehicles.

Yeah, I tried to be clear, but maybe I wasn't. Laws do vary from state to state. I can only speak for my state. Which isn't Mass. Like I said, always good to ask a lawyer.

You're a stand-up guy CB. You've been more than fair (they failed to listen to reason). The time for fairness on your part has long since pasted. Now, as you say, it's hardball all the way.

I'd do business with you anytime!!!

Why did you elect to get the continuance? Is your attorney going to depose the mechanic?

I think it was a ploy to run up costs for the other guy. The mechanic probably cost a few hundred dollars and they all have to come back now. How long does it take to change an engine in a boat anyway? Like a day?

Idiots.

Sorry Cptkid, I'll post events as they happen, but don't want to post any strategy, just in case.

Ya'll are very sharp I think you can figure this out. :D

Oh, next court date is Oct 24.

Good luck CB. That was very smart of you and your attorney to get a continuance. By the time this thing is said and done they will probably have spent the same amount they would have spent to get the boat fixed. Hopefully "sue" happy people like this will learn their lesson.

Can't wait for the update.

Two days off work?!?!

You probably saved them money by not having the television on at their house all day long where they sit on their butt living off the rest of us. They do sound like professional victims to me!

Your right, I think most of us can see what is happening. Be careful to not reveal your strategy here where the judge and the buyer can read about out. Besides, the suspense is kind of fun.

Re: sold a boat and it busted!

Someone on the 'show yer boat' thread asked for pictures of the "boat that busted". Might as well post em here too. They were on the original Craigslist add, but that has since expired.
