I ran the 1st layer of 1700 glass on deck last couple of days. Worked out pretty nice. Got the glass back to the transom area but want it to set before I step all over the place with the next finish glass cuts.
Perfect weather.

looks great man, Too bad you have to cover up all the work underneath, would have been cool to see it covered with acrylic or something so you could show it off.

Guys,
Believe me....I'm gonna somewhat miss that wood deck. I blew/wiped every section out with a vac/broom and then acetone and then my hand. It was so freakin smooth. It did turn out purty and I hate to cover it.
Gonna knock out the little tail end tom. am. Me daughter came over so we are tipping a few.
Cheers!

Got back in today, raining but dry under the covers. Sanded the humps, bumps, gunnels, needles etc. Went thru abunch of 80 grit.
Getting prepped for the 2nd run of 1700 on the deck.
It was a good day.

So I posted a few back and got no responses about powder coating some aluminum pcs. Found a comment though in regards to the conversation that goes this way;
"
Only concern with powder coating is that it is not repairable. That was why I went with painted frames. Other option is black anodized but depends on construction method
."
This comment is in regards to window frames, ie; wynne products.
So if they aren't suitable for that I don't see a reason to explore powder coating anything.

Another comment;

Rick,

On my 3rd season with a black frame Wynne window in the 25 T Jason. I wipe it down on the inside with WD40. Salt will build up on the inside frame if the boat takes some spray through the window.

Any thoughts guys???????????????

Found this on one blog if it helps:

Q: I am wondering how powder coat holds up to the elements of the sea?how does it do with the salt?I was looking into possibly having a buddy build me a t top and powder coating it.instead of building it out of sainless i have seen some hand rails on charter boats that where powder coated and seemed fine ?whats your thoughts and expierence with this?thanks guys

A: It all boils down to how well it's done. If any parts of the metal are exposed to the elements, then that's a way in for the elements and corrosion. It can be something as small as a pin-prick hole in the coating and the corrosion can spread from there.

If it's done right, and taken care of, it can last a very long time. But once it starts to go, you can almost never catch up with it. You're in a constant tail chase to keep it from spreading... We use powder coating on a lot of our gear here in the Navy. With two identical sets of railing, one of them had a damaged coating from misuse and within months the corrosion had taken over and there was noting to do but to strip it and resurface. The other looks just like the day the ship was delivered 6 years ago...

I thought you had your answer , powder coating only holds up like any other paint , once it's penetrated it's all over
