Not much help here .. I don’t do the offshore other than paddling out 50 to 100 yards or so on my surfboard ..
I used to work on shrimp boats and snapper boats when I was young until we almost sunk around 80 miles out on a snapper boat . Haven’t been back out other than just past the jetties since..
But like Zool said weather and fuel permitting could probably go 20 -30 miles or so ..
Just take baby steps .. Each time you will get more experience and figure out your capabilities ...

Sam,
I hear ya. Went out years ago with my dad and a friend. Fish/weakies statred double headering the lines. The water started churning. Lo and behold I looked to the Cape May Point and around the corner comes a water funnel. Freakin tornado on water is exactly what it is.
By the time we rolled our rods in we were bailing. My dads was a Navy man and he just saying...get out of here. Curtain of water just moved on us like someone closed the blinds...........
Out of the curtain came a Coast Gaurd ship and they followed us to port, safely I might add.
What a time that was. My dad said that was it for him. He went home and dried his wallet out in the microwave, that's another story.
Love the sea I do!

Well hell yea! Speaking out loud about luck, of which I do not really have. I've been looking into white german sheperds for the last 3 years/shelter/adoption. I had been using http://whiteshepherd.rescueme.org/Texas
whereas they let you know that a dog is available in a state in the USA. I finally realised I did not want a BIG German Sheperd to clean up after. Another place posted thru rescue me
: The North American Rescue Collective - Home | Facebook
This all came thru the website; rescue me.

interceded on the collective website for a combination white sheperd and Siberian Husky.
This is the actual Bandit we are luckily getting; Lower pic if it's there. But you get the idea.
They are bringing him from Kentucky to Ohio and then fly into Lancaster airport for us to pickup.
This evolved over the last 4 days. Actual bandit is the lower pup we are getting. 1 yr old.

Huskies are beautiful dogs, but they have been known to take off. Germans are amazing, when trained well, because they are SO loyal and SO damn smart! I bet your son will love him.

And if he lives in your house I'm guessing he will love boating! not much of a choice, says I.

when talking to a pirate, best to use the correct lingo!

My sister-in-law says I just got a wolf.

My sister and brother in law actually have a wolf/malamute mix. Great dog, but he likes to wander as well. although he is an impressive dude.

so awesome dog! the ocean thing, you and i have close to the same size boat, that said i dont know if i would adventure out in a open back 21 ft boat in anything but pristine weather and that can change fast,
it is one of the reasons i have always preferred a inboard or i/o over a outboard, too easy to get swamped when stuff turns nasty. then again i was out with a guy on a outboard and got sunk by following seas so maybe that childhood experience is why i have never looked into outboards except for calm weather inland areas... lol.
I know most outboard boats have a splash well to help and i was too young to remember if that one had one but it isn't a fear i have ever bothered to overcome, if i am headed to ocean its a inboard/inboard outboard and self bailing hull with watertight deck or i wont do it :)

Thanks Mick. I grew up fishing/boating with outboards and really don't see any diiference other than a well maintained machine being the solution. Def gonna put on a tiller for drifting/trolling or get me back home stuff in 1 pc.
Nothing in the bays around here anymore so you have to go top shelf...Continental that is, or close.
zool looked back into used rafts the other day and the $$ isn't to bad just keeping it up to spec ea. year. But hey def worth the coin.

Picked up this Holloween funny, Hope noone is offended. It's another Kevin but had to share;
A cabbie picks up a Nun. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won’t stop staring at her. She asks him why he is staring.

He replies: “I have a question to ask, but I don’t want to offend you.”

She answers, “My son, you cannot offend me. When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.”

“Well, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.”

She responds, “Well, let’s see what we can do about that…
1) You have to be single and
2) You must be Catholic.”

The cab driver is very excited and says, “Yes, I’m single and Catholic!”

“OK” the nun says. “Pull into the next alley.”

The nun fulfills his fantasy with a kiss that would make a hooker blush. But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.

“My dear child,” said the nun, “why are you crying?”

“Forgive me, but I’ve sinned. I lied and I must confess, I’m married and I’m Jewish.”

The nun says, “That’s OK. My name is Kevin and I’m going to a Halloween party!
I was so poor growing up, if i were not a boy i would have had Nothing to play with !!
