Well working on a larger deck, more level, more structural area for the outboard after I installed the trailer jacks. In the meantime my son turned 21...Say what? So we had family/friends over yesterday and as the day would have it I had to call out from work. Good times had by all. Also in the pic I wanted you to see the size of this motor. My son is 6' 4". That's alot of motor to juggle around. And alot of son.

When something is Special something should be noted now and then.
So noted, here, here. 1st motion.
Here we are scattered like tumbleweeds all across the states and world. Helping and supporting each other in our boat rehab endeavors and other projects.
For what it's worth, this sure is a unique and unbelieveable forum. :yo: Gentlemen.

Kcassells, you hit the nail on the head that the people on this forum are the best. While I am more in the "getting help" category at this point I certainly hope to become a bigger part of the "giving help" once I get more experience. For now though, you guys that have been there and done that and give the advise so freely is very unique indeed.

Thanks all!

Yup he's an eater and a grower that's for sure.
well no pics today will tomorrow, picked up some more lumber, screws, primer for the actual LEVEL deck to move the motor onto. Got off shift @ 6:30 this morning, hit HomeDeblow and got some wood down. Now its time to order breakfast, lunch or dinner whaterver it's called. Got beat by the heat but happy with where I got to today. Go figa...a deck for the motor... give me a break, could of been EEEpoxy and glass. Coming soon.
Some final wood work, paint/sealer and move the motor out of my way onto a level area... Yea!

Well leveled off the pallets as the base for the deck to move the ob onto. Picked up some furring strips to fill the gaps. Some pallets are a full deck of wood platform but I grabbed the lighter ones cause at the end of the day I'm beat. They are perfect for this aaplication. They are treated already for the elements.

I also bought some " Killz" and thinned it out x3 and applied with a sprayer to all the under deck wood and both sides of the ply deck.

Set and screwed down the ply.

I was blown away by how easy it was to roll the motor onto the level deck with also being able to adjust the angles with the trailer hitches.
Well next is to work on the ob and in addition finish off the boat interior rear bulkheads, stringers and related areas.

Next I can remove the temp floor behind the transom, re-level, treat it and then move the ob back for install when I get there.

Wood,
I had to build a temp platform to pull the ob off the boat cause the yard is not level, plus it's grass. That platform was a little sketchy to say the least. So the engine hoist worked great getting the ob off. But the other issue was getting the ob onto my stand. The hoist would not let me get under the stand which was lower than the legs of the hoist on the deck. I raised the ob as high as was allowed, installed it on the stand, secured the ob to the stand, I placed the stand on blocks and such. pulled out the hoist and installed the trailer jacks. They allowed xtra height from 0" to @8".
They allowed me to gain height above the hoist legs.
I built up it up higher while on the hoist. Then says I....now what? so what? I couldn't pull the engine hoist out from under the stand.

So unlevel ground, tricky temp deck, inches required to get the ob off the engine hoist and the stand free;

So I had to get creative;

Now I could pull the engine hoist out but needed a level platform to move it to. The trailer hitches let me raise the ob higher than the blocks, level it out and be able to move to the new level structural deck.

The stands really rolls quite well, I can level it out obviously in 3 different positions. I can also now block under the stand so now I can try to rebuild up the ob and fire up my little piggy.
Seemed like alot of work just for the ob but I did not see any other solutions. And the way I move with this restoration I'll probably have to get a mailbox and address for the deck.

Ha ha... Thanks Mike etal,
A whole lot safer.
Well added some outriggers. I need to fill the hydraulic motor lifts. Feel better with the outriggers. Leveled up the motor stand with some cinder blocks. Very nice says I. I left the trailer hitches just touching the deck but no real weight on them. All level.
Added about 200 new screws to the old stand just for my own pc. of mind. Wonder if I should stain/seal the motor stand? Whats ya dink? The lumber is treated.

Next I have to set up the controls and wire harness. I have a seperate complete set that came with the outboard. Charge up a battery, run a test and determine what parts I need to rebuild.Sure nough replace the spark plugs, impellor and related fluids. I'll do a compression test, work the tilt motor etc. I'll put that on a seperate stand. Anyone got any ideas on how I should best wire this up in a remote situation? I think I got the gist of it just wanna make sure I have all the wiring protected with fuses etc. Going to use a premix fuel instead of the VRO oil function.
Also want to set up some gauges to read while performing the analysis/test. Motor was winterised @2 yrs ago, compression was good, but this area is a little different than what I've been doing in regards to glass and repair work.
Any help appreciated.
Can this be linked to Johnson motors etc.?
