Rick,
Actually have been a little lame on my end. With the new move, job etc...Boats jujst waiting out there for me, she's pretty patient. I think next I'll take the outboard off the transom and start working on that. Gotta plan.
Thanks for stopping in!

I got the tools I needed to pull the ob off the transom. The ob weighs @ 460 lbs. so to me handling that amt. of weight by yourself seems a daunting task. I picked up a tool from harbor freight, it worked. Just had to buy a eye bolt to fit. In addition the yard is pitched so I had to build a platform to conform to level. I was going to get pallets and ply over that but I got lazy and used scraps I had laying around.
I'm still going to get pallets now because to finish the transfer to my stand I need some room to swing the engine hoist without being so confined to the platform I made.
A little nerved out but it worked out for me. The HF unit cost @ $18.00 plus freight, other mfg eye rings went from 68 to 150 bucks.

So I finally did get the motor properly attached to the boat stand. Was/is a little tricky beacuase of the engine lift. The legs/supposrts of the lift want to hit the base of the engine stand. So I built a temp deck to level the stand and added blocks under the engine lift legs to raise the engine higher than the legs. The point being once all is in proper heights and location I can pull the engine lift out from under the boat stand.
The unlevel areas added some trouble to making the motor bracket sit flush onto the motor stand. Only 103 heat index today.
pics attached. Still more to do like a strong level deck, rollers on the bottom of the boat stand and then hook up all the controls to start firing up and working on the motor.

So add rollers to bottom and a strong level deck base.

Thanks for the reply. And it's good to know I wasn't the only one who had this problem.

So I've decided to get 3 of these bolt on lift jacks from harbor freight. @ $20.00. Going to place them on the 3 base legs of the motor stand then basically lift the motor stand with them and pull out the engine lift. Then level, roll the boat stand to where I want it and set up the ob for testing.
Additionally I'll get 3 rated rolling caster to shuttle the motor around on.
Sorta rambling on here. Have a good day all.

Hey KFC, good to see you're back at it! Looks like you're really 'motoring' along now . Take your time and be careful moving that motor around, things are looking a little precarious over there :D.

So my trailer hitches showed up, rated at 1000 lbs ea. I mounted them to the framework and was able to pull out the engine lift. really makes leveling easy on all sides considering I'm working on a slanted grade. After I finally get the unit to where I want it then I can block it up proper.

Thanks Sam, I want to make a larger platform and move the engine there away from he back of the boat. Crowded enough in that area just getting in and out of the boat to work.
Maybe alongside the boat and hook up the controls eventually and start testing her out.
