Mick, this is a positive pressure booth. I have found that they work better because they push the non filtered air out, not pull it in.

And the paint booth worked flawlessly. I do need to make the exhaust tunnel larger, the booth puffed up like a marshmallow! And yes JB it was PAIN-it lol!

Arch, some times our boo boos turn out to be helpful. I know all about the "SANDING" issues. So I can understand your dislike. I am tired of sanding as well. But unless you fix things as you find them, they will show up in the final finish. I am really interested in how well your paint both works now. :thumb:

WOG, seems you now need to change your address. The EPA could surround your house and demand you to come out with your paint gun in the air. :pound:

if their fines are anything like the lead law fines...you do not want them anywhere near your house. they fine you 35,000 for each lead related infraction they find. an infraction could be no sign at the job site announcing lead may be present or not giving the customer an EPA lead info pamphlet that is basically a pamphlet on how to turn me in. I went and got my lead license. although I understand the concern, their way of doing things puts tons of plastic into land fills and isn't good for the environment. after the recession of a few years back their budget was cut way back (or so I'd heard) and apparently it would take a few states worth of agents to surround your house. I still won't paint exteriors I don't need the hassle and it would cost double to do the job if done the way the EPA wants.

"Hi we're with the government, we're here to help"

Today I am back to sanding, with a time out for the OU game. Hopefully this stuff sands easily.

I feel your sanding pain there arch. I just finished recoating my hull with the second coat of 2K primer. And now comes the sanding again and some more pit and hole filling. Does it ever end..........

Ok boys we don't want to start a riot and burn down the Iboats forums lol!

I got Fuggly sanded down today. Oddly enough, there were 3 stress cracks in the gelcoat that didn't show up until I shot the sealer. I filled them tonight and will shoot some primer on them in the am. After that I need to pull the plastic and some of the tape off her and then clean out the paint booth......then re tape and wrap her back up! Nothing like doing everything twice!

We are supposed to have some warm weather mid-week, so depending on my schedule I will sneak out and put some color on her. I'm ready to move forward on the putting her back together stage.

Arch, what grit are you doing for the final primer sand before color?

400, hand sanding wet. I'm just going to spot prime the couple areas with issues. But all of it will be sanded to 400 grit.

I am presently using 320 dry. But I had plans to finish before painting with 40 wet as well. I was just wondering. Thanks for the reply.

No problem GM. I have been pondering the bilge this morning. I am thinking about putting bilgekote on it or total boat has a bilge epoxy. Anyone have any thoughts or comments?

I also got things rolling on ordering the carpet. I will need it for the bunks once I have the trailer painted (which will hopefully happen soon). I order 12'x30 which seems like a lot, but she is a big girl and the bunks are good size also.

Hey Sam,

No filters, I just have an exhaust "tunnel" that dumps out in the yard. Ill try to remember to take a pic and post it.

Looking great Arch. Keep on chugging along. Anxiously waiting for the color. Filters might help on clean up once you're done. I can see a lot of dust collecting at the exhaust hole and blowing back into the hanger if it is windy. I know my garage seems to have everything blow back inside. I am locked in an epic battle every year at this time trying to keep the leaves out.

Wood I am going back with the same aqua color, custom matched :D

Shep / Patt, the tunnel really isn't an issue. No bugs this time of year, or very few. Most have died off for the year. If it was summer I could put on a filter then pull it off when I had the booth up and running. The tube basically becomes a wind tunnel at that point. The fan moves a LOT of air! The whole booth puffs up like the state puff marshmallow man....I'm afraid the filters might cause it to blow out. The exhaust tube really needs to be quite a bit bigger.
