Today I cleaned up the shop and got things ready to mock up the interior. I have been planning on changing up the front seats and the side panels. I thought the dash / side panels would be a bear to get in, but with a couple of 5 gallon buckets and some clamps they were mocked up. I also wrestled the falling apart seats back in.....the more I looked at it, the more I think I am going back close to stock with it. I'm thinking about softening the sides of the seat backs some, and adding some upholster to the side panels. I am sort of warming up to some jump seats on either side of the engine dog house. Even as big as it is, I can't do back to back seats and a bench across the back. Any thoughts? Should I keep the back to back seats as loungers or go to fixed seats? I think I am going to add a large padded area up front that would be better for the ladies to sun, so I am thinking easy storage trumps the loungers.

Oh and the other question is silver or beige upholster? That teal looks way too hot!

For what it's worth I'm not a fan of back to back seats due to I don't like traveling up the lake facing backwards. Reminds me of all those trips in the back of my parents station wagon during vacation in the 70's. Miles would go by with me and my cousin facing out the back of the Vista Cruiser while the rest of the family facing forward got to actually read the road signs and knew where we were.

I personally like the idea of a rear sun deck with a bench then two captains chairs at the consoles. Adding a sun deck at the front gives two large sunning areas for the ladies. Just my .02

Oh and +2 on the beige.

I have never been a big fan of back to back seats either ... But on Fuggly I make an exception ... They kinda go well ... Color wise Just throwing it out there..
White with some of the teal green accents stripes or something ... Beige is a brownish color . If there are no other brown colors in the boat it may look a little funny .. Or maybe I'm way off base idk ..

I think sphelps is on to something there I'm not a fan of BtoB's either but they do seem to fit, and Teal and White seems to work.

Tnstraato, I hear your on the back to bIack, but if I do two seats forward and bench in the back I only have room for 5 people. Normally that would work great in a bow rider, but realistically you won't be able to set up front while underway. I do like the sun deck in the back, but given the engine height, it will be taller in the middle. A little odd, but doable. I'm going to look at some cardboard options today.

Sam, I like the idea, but I really don't want to go with white in OK, Our sand has a really fine red silt it in. I had a Sea Ray with white seats, it always had pink foot prints on it! Drove me nuts! But every time you got in you stepped on a seat somewhere!. It wasn't really bad, but just annoyed me. I keep kind of leaning towards the silver with all of the aluminum accents on the interior. IDK, I need to get some vinyl samples and have my interior designer look at it. She always has an interesting perspective on things.

Werallnuts, unless I go with a bucket, I will build all the frames and have them upholstered locally. I really want to tailor the seats to fit the look of the boat, no mater which way I go.

Thanks for the vote Teamster!

I have to agree on the white and teal. Silver would work too with the stainless accents but you would need some teal to tie in the silver. Beige would not be a good direction. They would look like seats from a Donner boat. I think shinny enough vinyl will clean off easy enough. Won't look as nice as the pleather texture vinyl but might be a matter of function rather than esthetics. Nothing worse than cleaning seats after each day out. The shinier vinyl is also period correct. Something I think you are going for wherever possible. You will gather plenty of samples i'm sure and will find a happy medium. Just my two cents.

Back to backs are a necessary evil for the fold out lounger that takes up less room then a permanent bench.

I'm sure you'll do a great however ya build it.

The aqua green seats on the MFG do get a little warm but haven't left any marks yet ..
The paint usually gets hotter ..
Definitely silver over beige ..

Silver is the way to go I don't think many boats would look good with beige. Teal might look nice but I am not so sure about it, I think it can be done right and also done very wrong. If you do choose to go teal make sure you have something that compliments it really well.

As for the back to back seats I will say I do like the storage under them in my boat but I am really not a fan of them other than that. I am planning to go to 2 seats and a bench that way all face forward. Never been a fan on not looking where I am going even if I am riding. Just my 0.02 cents

Lol I stand corrected JB! Thanks for the info on the seat temps Sam! Skater I am starting to lean toward the silver....which is a great concept, but until you have the samples you never know. I do really like the silver I used on Miss Morgan, so maybe a redo.....or who knows! I have been playing nurse for my parents most of the day...so havent got a lot done, but I sort of have a hybrid idea going. starting on the cardboard now, well see how it goes.

I do like the silver you used on miss morgan, what a great build. Maybe a silver seat with blue tubbing (no idea what it is called ).
