He wood, maybe I can use 57 chevy hood hinges! :D I do like that idea. I dreamed up an idea last night, hopefully I will have some time tonight to work on mocking it up.

Sam / Nurseman I have visions of the MC! drive exploding into a million pieces! Lets focus on getting it in the water, lol! Who knows it maybe a future upgrade :D

Think I have it figured out. :D I need to get a couple more things glued up and I'll post some pics.

Ok so here is what i came up with. I didn't completely build the port side, but got the starboard side mostly mocked up. Imagine the seat extend all the way over to the gunnel.

It could be hinged where the level is....or maybe it just comes off......guess you could do both with quick release hinges. Still a lot of details and refinements to work out!

This is a closeup of the filler panel I need to make behind the new seat. The seat will need to flush out with the top of the new panel so it can swing upright into the back rest for the sun deck pad. That pad will take up the existing flat area and the new area directly behind the seat.

Here is another close up

Wider shot of the sundeck area. Maybe some drink holders built into the top of the dog house?

This is what the dog house will look like off the boat. More or less the same as the original, but a 1' longer,

If you make the seats hinge forward and the DogHouse assembly hinge on the back you could lift it up and have some kind of lid support to hold it and the entire back of the boat would be open for access to the motor also lots of storage under the seats!!! I can see it in my Minds Eye!!!

I like Woodys idea on hinging it forward ... Just might be better to hinge all three separately . That way if you do need to get in there while on the water you don't have to move everything or everyone just to gain access to one side or the other .. Still trying to figure out the sun pad back rest on each side in my head ..
This is a great mock up ! Not the full sun deck you wanted but it looks great /functional ....

I love the layout arch! The crease in the middle of the engine box cardboard makes it look like an old cowl hood off a camaro. If at all possible I would make all pieces fold up and out of the way. The engine box section would need a small shock absorber type strut to keep it up but the seats could could flip 180 degrees and rest on the sun deck.

The center section between the seats could just fold onto itself and onto the deck. The vertical section folds forward and lays on the deck and the horizontal section folds on top of the vertical. Sort of what the cardboard would do right now if it wasn't supported. You could make it removable too. After it folds onto itself, it can be put inbetween the front seats and side panels due to it's low profile while folded.Nothing worse than moving a seat around the cabin when the boat needs repair. It will always be in the way no matter where you slide it to. Of course I have no idea if this is feasable without having the boat in front of me. This idea might also over complicate how the sundeck articulating head rest functions. Just an idea that you might not (you probably have) thought about. I know for me, when there is a problem, I want the area clear. I hope you don't mind the input. Take it for what it is, just some over the top (pun itended) idea from a guy across the country that won't be helping you with the extra work. Lol

Zool, maybe I should just glass over them, lol. I have seen that done before....but I am thinking they might look a little rough!

Thanks for the ideas on the hinges Wood. I think I am going to take a compromise approach between easy engine access and ease of construction. It will probably change, but what I am thinking right now is hinging the dog house on the back if I can....it really wasn't designed for that. But I thing a set of these might work.

I like the quick release option and I think it would work well with a couple gas shocks. As for the seats and storage, I think I will just hinge the seats for storage and make the actual seat quick release, same with bulkheads. I'm sort of going with the principal that is engine access is usually fairly infrequent. I think designing for daily access to storage is a good compromise for me. I still will have good engine access, it will just take a little longer to get things out of the way.

Sam I will ,make a mock up for you! :D

Patt, I appreciate the ideas, feel free to comment anytime!

Lol, I think Iboats does to....they are a little pricey, but very nice. I will need a good set of hinges, the dog house is pretty good size!

I think they are just pricey in general. Take a look for them in a large auto parts store to compare. I would hinge it first to figure out what size strut you need. Another idea that may or may not be cheaper is to look for a set of used corvette hinges from the 70-80's. They open and keep the hood open with a stop mechanism. To close you lift the hood a few inches and the stop disengages. I don't know how large the mounting brackets are, having never owned a vette, but it might be worth a looksie.

I like the layout arch, you could just be lazy and glass over the cardbord and call it a day! Nothing like paper for a lightweight core material! I'm intrigued to see how you're goin to have it all hinge and come apart.

Thanks for the idea on the corvette hinges Patt. Haven't really ever look at them, might be an interesting idea.

Lol, me too! The hing in the back may get a little tricky since it was never made to be hinged back there.....but I'll figure something out!

Hey Woe, haven't done anything with the drives, just trying to get the interior sorted out.

No progress this weekend, I had to go out to the lake and play plunger.......the water line going to the toilet kept getting stopped up from scaling coming from old galvanized pipe. I installed a new pex line to replace the old one, which was something of a chore. I'm hoping to get out there tonight and maybe get a little planning work done.
