Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

^^^ yeah, count me in for that pontoon design kicking fest ;)

Having driven a few 100K nails, I'm up for wielding a nail gun, but a hammer, now, not so much. Esp not swinging a 22(24??)oz framing hammer. Being an architect & all, I bet you got a titanium hammer.

If it's on 40 acres, all you need now is a mule

But that boat resto strip mall sounds good.

Darn nice, arch...
Just been getting all caught up and I gotta say...
That is one impressive looking slab...
That is gonna be one Big @$$ Brick $*** House...well, actually made out of concrete and wood, instead:rolleyes:
Have an awesome Turkey day and I'll be cheering you on as the framing goes up and the nails are a flying...

JB I actually have a wood handled framing hammer, probably 40 or so years old. My Dad was a framer, so guess what I did as a kid on the weekends and summer? lol! I still like the wood handles, no blisters and less impact on the hand / arm.

Zool, oddly enough I signed some drawings for a warehouse this week at the office!

Thanks GT, its big for sure, but I can fill it up, lol!

Same style & for the same reasons I choose mine :)

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

No progress on the barn this weekend, we have had freezing rain, and snow. Looks like it is going to be nice for the 3 day weekend, so I'm hoping to knock out a bunch of the framing. So while I have the house torn apart, I decided to update the bathroom and replace the shower, cabinets and floor.

I may never get back to the boat! Hopefully in a few months this will all wind down!

It was a fiberglass shower 3x3, which I hated, like taking a shower in a phone booth. The new one will be 3 x 5. The fiberlglass was pretty good a protecting things, other than where the door apparently leaked for years. I have a little subfloor damage to repair, but that is it.

What kind of floor pan are you putting in? Poured or fabricated?

I'm using a pre-formed Latacrete pan / drain, which works with their hydroban waterproofing system.

Yeah, I've seen those. They look like they would be really nice to work with. Never had the pleasure. Let us know how it all works out.

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Not much new to report, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy T-day!

I did strip the forms on the barn today and got the scissor lift on the slab....lumber is here and we are ready to make hay on Friday! I will probably do a little prep work tomorrow evening in the shop....I need to rip down some of the purlins to allow for the osb sheathing thickness at the shear walls. My helper should be here bright and early Friday, so I want to be prepared to make the most out of his time on Friday.

In other news I bought a new camcorder this week, so I will post some videos on the progress. Happy T-day everyone!

Re: Pontoon rebuild / redesign

Hope everyone had a great T-day. We made good progress today....but as I suspected half of the day was spent organizing and cutting the columns to length. We finally sorted things out at the end of the day and got a rhythm going. I just came in from precutting purlins and blocking to length, so hopefully we hit the ground running tomorrow and make a big dent in things. Right now I am concentrating on the corners / shear walls. Once I have these up and plumb, the rest is gravy! Here are the two bays we worked on today, minius the top row of OSB and the headers.

Sort of looks like I'm building a castle from the outside, lol!
