You are correct sir. This is more or less a pole barn, with my hybrid structural design. All of the columns go a minimum of 3'-6" below finished floor. There is also a continuous footing around the perimeter..... which is over kill for our area from a frost standpoint...and really from a barn stand point. The columns are specifically designed for this application, and are actually an engineered product. The bottom 6' is .60 CCA treated, which is the good stuff so to speak. Most of the pressure treated lumber available a few years ago was .30 CCA treated. The EPA came along and outlawed CCA for most applications. This product squeezes through the bs and is rated for direct burial, which the .30 stuff you used to get at Home Depot wasn't.....so the columns should be there when we are all done and gone They are made up of several 2x6's, which are laminated together like a glue lam beam. The product is very strait, true and stable.....its called titan timber, by timber technologies. Great product, beats solid sawn 6x6's in every aspect.
