Re: pic of work so far

Many times, the only difference in the HP ratings is the size of carbs and reed valves used. Weight would be the only factor you'd need to worry about with your boat John, the HP isn't the factor....we know your transom can handle it!:D

OHH YEA I know it can handle that plus another 100hp just wondering what the DNR would say !!! lol ohh man a 225 on the back I would hit a 100 in her !!lol she might weigh a little more the 100 is only a 90cc and this I think is a little bigger , but not much, so I really not worried abought the weight !!john

buddy.....heres the scoop as far as i know......uscg is ......well....conservative.
the boat you have is rated for 85 ponys.....(as far as i remember those specs)

i would put a 125 on that without worry.....pm ondarvr...and ask him to look in on this thread for certain....but bud........

you built that boat far beyond the mfgrs specs.....way beyond it will certanly hold any power you wanna out on it........rvr will laugh when i say.....yer not gonna die !

johnny......you dont use the boat like a mad man......if you are 20 or 50 hp over...well thats within tolerance of your boating habits

john....if you go out side those habits..........there is consenquences.
in other words....you will have a screemer when you want.....but a decent motor if you drive it like you have kids.

what ever you do im right there with ya buddy

Thanks there Buddie , I will pm ondarvr and ask him , also she is rateed for a 100 hp what is says on the plate , I did read some where that from the 90hp to the 125 is all the same motor !! so I really not all that worried , except the the DNR and we have a sheriff patrol . but as long as I not going to nuts with her we should be ok !! I do love speed thoe !! :D:cool:

I talked to the guy last night . and am picking her up tonight at 6;30 , he was saying he parked it cause the transom was getting soft so I am kind of worried about draging her home tonight !! I will check her out good and take a couple heave strapps with just incase !!

And what I have found so far is they were racing boats they set the speed record in a a hustler jet boat of 285,00 mph in the late 60s , it was a 30footer , and today there big in cig boats !! so with all that said I am really thinking I got a third boat to do !! help me !!!!!!!!! lol

John, your thread was the first I read when I joined here and I must say, if memory serves me right, you have another boat as well as the glastron dont you? I mean really man, 3 boats...all similar...give me the glastron, help me help you:D

I've got a 91 100hp Belgium made Mariner. Piece of junk that they made for two years then I think they re-did the casting mold. I finally discovered (after the second tear down) that there was a sand hole opening up on #4 cylinder that was allowing water to enter at the intake port. I had a shop pull the sleeve and weld it up. All I want to do is get it running and use it for the rest of the season. I'm re-powering with a E-Tec 115 HO this spring.

Re: pic of work so far

Hey folks, on the subject of overpowering ---- Interesting thing happened to me when I put a Yami F150 on my 18' Starcraft that's rated for 115. I had to punch it hard to come up on plane and at 59 mph it started chine walking on me. Setting the smart tabs to full down just made it push water like the boat had a flat nose or something and the chine walking started sooner at about 35mph. I played with trim and tabs all day and was never able to get anything even close to acceptable. I asked some pro's and the general concensious is that the 150 was just too much motor for the hull design. It never had any of these problems with the 100hp Mariner all beit running like crap I did get a very smooth and comfortable ride at 40mph. It's a weight and hp thing.

I'm re-powering with a 115 E-Tec HO this winter but testing first. I may drop back to a 90.

Re: pic of work so far

Probably had something more to do with the amount of boat left in the water at those speeds! I can get a Merc 150 for 3k from a guy that teaches boat repair at the local tech school...but that price is a bit steep for me, and 150 is 25hp over my rating....I'm going to keep looking. 115's are pretty easy to find.

Seems like everything I see in big motors is either a 70hp or a 115/150+hp on craigslist.

I may end up with another boat just for the motor

LOL John bout time you caught up with me and I had to sell one so you could catch up :D aaaaaand I started collecting this summer . That looks like it will be a fun winter project and even more fun on the water and the good news is you really dont need another motor just a cherry picker to switch the Merc back and forth between the 2 boats as long as you have all the cables for both boats and controls :D.

John, I am sorry, I cant write a check, Im from Ohio so I cant read or write. I use a dictation program to speak and spell onto the computer. Its hard cause the Ohio water induces a slur and stuter so I have to do it multiple times to get it right. :D

John, having a wife that doesnt keep you in check is a dangerous thing. I too have one that thinks that whatever I want is fine with her. At one time I had 6 vehicles, thank god I am now down to 5...

I like the boat man, that black makes that thing look like a quick ninja! Good luck with her.

OOOOOOPSS, forgot about the motorcycle, guess I still have 6:rolleyes:
