That's great that you don't have a big bill looming for the whole thing. Hope your seats turn out as nice as your paint job. After your decal fiasco you know we won't accept some wrinkly-*** amateur looking upholstery job!

Well got one side done on the rub rail !! its really turned out better then I hoped !! It allmost looks like a new rub rail !!! heres the frist before

Okay. how did you do that?

My rub rail is in okay shape but has blue paint on it!! I'm afraid if I use some kind of solvent it will etch the aluminum.

He's sanding and polishing the aluminum. You'll probably want to do the same if you want to restore yours. If yours is in decent shape and not all beat up, just has paint on it, steel wool would probably do the trick.

Sand it. Works great, uses lots of sand paper though.

HAHAHA yep just hit it with the numatic sander and some 220 grit and then steel wooled it and the put some mothers alum, polish on and it turned out great , dont yea think !! John

Ok guys got to finish the other rub rail , Then get them on !!!! We spent about 5 hour just on the one side yesterday ! the other side isnt as bad so it shouldnt take as long !!! john

John,just started reading your posts.Awesome job on the boat!!!You had better be careful if you take that thing up the detroit river,all us wing fans will think your stevie Y,on your way to the " JOE" in your new power boat,which begs the question What motor are you gonna put on the "old/new"girl?Saw that old merc in a few pics?Maybe see ya on some inland lakes this summer, lansing,brighton, howell ,north jackson county?i'll be sure to have my sunglasses on!On second thought you may not need a motor with all that wax on her! tom

Nope haven't been over there much on the lakes , did used to live in mason and east Lansing !!

and yea that old Merc is going back on her !! thats a next fall project !! lol i like that old girl , she's the same age as meee !!!! hahah 1962 1000 100 hp and she moves that old new boat , cant wait to see what she will do this year !!! John

yea Buddie , its going to be a back to back Stanley cup !!!

the race is still going on to see who gets in the water first !!! lol

its really looking good for next week , if i can get the vinyl ordered her Friday !!!

OK guys that old saying got me again !!the best laid plans ?? I was out there grinding and it was getting warm , come in to change to a shirt and my cell was beeping at me , Mom , left a massage saying she need some help out in the barn , so tried calling her back no answer , so we just headed over there , me and the 3 kids , she called me back right after we left , saying it didn't have to be today , but we were all loaded up , so we went and got the barn ready for a auction here on the 18th , she selling all the tractors. planters, and a bunch of other stuff !! I even got a few things !!

So I did get the other rub rail all ground and that was about it, should be able to get them on tomorrow !! John

John,not to get ahead of your project,but,the trailer is gonna have to be as good if not better than the boat!I'm thinking a nice hockeystick motif on the trailer with hub caps that look like hockey pucks!How about a motor cowling that looks like Ozzies hockey mask?Just some ramblings from mid-mich.

HAHAHA yea that would be cool , but I couldn't do that to my tower of power , I do want her looking like new Theo !!! and the trailer is going to be red and white also but not till fall !!!! lol

Max it was easy , just sand it till the scratches are gone !! started with 220 grit and then steel wooled them and the some alum polish !!

I did write a guy about the color of the red vinyl , just waiting on a answer and I will be ordering the VINYL !!!! measured again tonight and am going to order 8 yards of white and red !! John

Did you use like an angle die grinder with the 3m scotch fiber wheels or actual sandpaper on a sander? Seems a flat paper wouldnt be the right tool for the radius. COme on man, give us a proper tutorial! Maybe a quick video, you dont have many if any at all on here. COme on, dont keep us in the dark, its not your style!

hay Chris , all i did was use the nematic sander and some 220 grit !! you cant stay in one spot!! but it worked great as you can see !! then steel wooled it !! then the polish !!! john
