Wow, John! Very long thread but very detailed and informative. Nice. I'm guessng that all boats are filled with foam? Even the Center Consoles? I've had mine submerged before but The floor hasn't gone soft yet. I don't know if I would want to take that project on. Good Job!

The design for the new paint and cushions looks great, it'll be a real head turner!

I look forward to the far distant day when I can do the paint and interior for my project...

Have you figured out how you are going to mount the red cushion that goes all the way around the bow?
The bow seats on my boat are very similar to yours and my cushions were screwed in from behind the seats (when they existed) and I have been trying to come up with a way of attaching new ones without being able to put a screw in from the back... Since I had to remove the cap, I now have the option of attaching from behind but I still think I would like to be able to have the cushions removable plus that would require that I have the new cushions designed, built and ready to install before I put the cap back on...

Are you still planning on using Rustolium paint? I'm thinking to try the Rustolium marine paint if I can find it, so far nobody around here (detroit area) even knows what I'm talking about when I ask about it...

Hay cougar, just keep plugging away at yours and you will get there !!!! and thanks I think she will be sharp when she is done also !!!

Nope i havent, I was kind of thinking how i was going to hook them , i kind of was thinking the same way as you stated , screwing them from behind , it going to be kind of hard to do but i think i can get to it !! Ican still lift the front of my top up a few inchs , but the back is glassed , so i am going to have to try to get to them threw the storage hole !!

i havent looked for the rustolium top side yet , but if i cant find it here i will get it on line !!! did you try home depot , or lowes ??? I have seen it some where , it might even been true value !!! but if i cant find it i am going with the regular rustolium , have you seen the pics of TDs boat ?? he used regular !! she look sweet !!

Where are you at in detorit ?? when i was a kid I grew up by 10 and hoover , I got a aunt that lives in ferndale , just off of 8 mile , john

Re: pic of work so far

Yeah John, I'm still workin on it as much as I can. With 2 small kids free time is a little hard to come by but I manage to scrape out a little time... I was able to get the cap off this weekend, I'll be posting some pic's on my thread soon.

when i was a kid I grew up by 10 and hoover

I know the area well, I'm near Mound and 11 mile.

did you try home depot , or lowes ??? I have seen it some where , it might even been true value !!!

So far I've looked at 2 Aco's, 1 Home Depot, 1 Lowes, 2 True Value's and I've called a couple of other places, and no dice...

I did find a lead on a different manufacture that sounds interesting called Kush Paint Co. in Roseville. I read about them somewhere online and the reviews sounded good. I haven't called for price info yet. This is from their site (http://kushpaint.com/):

Our marine enamel is the product that put Kush Paint Co. on the map. It is made of high quality soy alkyd enamel that is not only for use on boats and seawalls but may also be used for home, factory, institution or anywhere a durable, long lasting paint is needed.

Our marine enamels are hard yet flexible. This combination produces a highly washable, long lasting, mildew resistant finish.

Kush Paint Co.'s marine enamels adhere to wood, metal, fiberglass, aluminum siding, concrete, plaster and other types of substrates. Our enamels contain at least 30% more costly, non-chalking, hiding pigments, so your paints cover better without sacrificing their durability. Kush marine enamels have one very unique feature; they are thick, very thick. They are smooth and creamy so that painting becomes easier and neater.
If the price isn't too high I might give them a try...
