Time to buy another pack of lures. :)
Got out a couple weeks ago and was trying out the new Dipsy Divers for lake trout. It wasn't long before I lost the whole set up on a tree that was sticking up with the top about 70 feet below the surface ... I thought I was going to clear it by 10 feet, but alas, Dipsy, follower, swivels, and spoon all became property of said tree. UGH. 1st time in the water ... I hate that. Virgin setup never had a chance to catch a fish!

We drifted with the tide under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, the water depths under the bridge are around 60-80 feet deep. I caught a small Sea Bass, a nice size Dogfish (Sandshark) and a Sea Robyn, all caught on a Fluke Rig with minnows. Not a bad go to Rig, as I caught 3 different species of fish.

Finally got to spend some quality water time with a rod in my hand! It was in Maine! The smallmouths were aplenty! Caught quite a few between 10-14 inches which was a great fight on an ultra-light. Caught everything from panfish to black perch to fall fish. The most fun was an 18 (+/-) Northern caught on the ultra-light. That little guy gave me a run for my money! A lot of fun to be fishing AND catching!

Got back a week ago from our family trip. Middle son is now looking at videos to catch Musky. I've already warned him that the fish is called the Fish of 10000 casts for a reason.

Reason he's looking? Well finally, after 2 days, got his butt out of bed, with his brothers, early into the trip. First cast he lands a 14" largemouth bass on a Mepps #3. Last day, he's beat, tired, upset, wants to go in, yadda, yadda, yadda. We say we're staying out as we're still catching small fish and something is tugging hard on my jig but won't take it.

A few casts later, he lands it. Actually, all I hear is a big splash. I ask what that was and I see his pole bent over and then it does a second dance on the water. Get the net! A few minutes later....18" smallmouth bass.

My other two boys are now referring to my middle son as "the expert" 🤣🤣

We did agree to upgrade his light weight fishing pole to a Medium fishing pole. Still 6' as he still has a habit of hooking the anchor and casting over someone else's line. Put a Lews All American reel on it with 10lb test. He's itching to try it out but rain in the forecast for the weekend. Will see...

Put a hookless lure on it, have him stand on a patio chair and set up random targets in the yard.

I quit trying to fish the lake I am on, I bought a submersible dock light and a bag of fish feed. Every night I have 100's of fish coming to me. The fish are getting fat.
I have (11) freshwater aquariums. They come to me every time I walk by the tank asking to be fed.

That includes a 110Gallon patio pond with koi, shubunkin, and a comet goldfish (fair fish - actually survived).
