Use Mothers Mag and aluminum polish from WalMart on the windshield frame. Rub it on with a cloth and keep rubbing till the cream turns Black. Then use a Warm soapy cloth to wipe it off. It will look like Chrome!!! Finish off by waxing it and it will stay untarnished for a long time.

Windshield looks great! Cutting the corners will let them tuck in nice & close & line up w/ the bow stripe. Looking good!

Yep I have some of the mothers polish and I also picked up a buffing wheel for my bench grinder . I am gunna set it up outside to give me more room to work with it .

Thanks Troop , jbc, GT ,and TC !
I was sitting there trying to think when the last time I rode in the boat . I think it was about 30 years ago . Me my brother and my dad went out messing around .I remember my dad had to go real bad and was attempting to fill a bottle while under way . My brother was at the helm and made sure to try and hit every wake he could find LOL!! Man that was a long time ago !

Looks like the gasket seated really well to the hull. The windshield looks awesome.

Yep after I cut the gasket at each post it layed down nice . I was a little afraid that I might tighten it to much and crack it.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I used a tip from Wood and got some of the strapping material to fold under the vinyl and then I screwed it down with some small SS screws ..
Staples just would not penetrate the fiberglass on the seats .

Just a tidbit !
Later SP.

Are you using an Air Stapler or Manual? Screws look good but lots more work. The Banding is great stuff and what I like about it is...It's FREE!!!!

HD had some in stock but were to long . FREE stuff is ALWAYS the best stuff ! Iv,e always been kind of a tight wad to be honest ! :p

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

OK ,you know the old saying .. Hindsight is a ____ -- ____ !
Well SP aka Big dummy should have placed the H/T on before cutting the oval openings on the seat bases . The height I have now will work just as long as I keep my head slightly tilted to one side .LOL !:redface: Looks like I need to take a few inches off the bases and of coarse that means it will get into the ovals .. :mad:facepalm:
I am thinking ,as dangerous as this may be , that I can glass the plugs back in and then recut the holes on the other side after getting the height cut down right . Not to big a deal but is a little extra unintended work .
Maybe a little verbal abuse would make me feel better ! LOL !

Bummer, good to have tested the H/T before trimming the bottoms to the taper of the hull too :)

If it'll make you feel better, I had a similar issue. My two font seats were supposed to have arm rests. Well I placed the pyramid bases about 2" to close together and so... No Arm Rests!!!!! We all Live and learn. At least your's aren't glassed to the deck.

Bummer...just thinking...(which is dangerous) ... Since you are going to get into the ovals a bit, maybe just round off the opening to a half circle ending at deck height, which is how a lot of stowaways are set up anyway (may look normal/intended)...

Don't beat yourself up... You have serious game on this boat restore hobby and you will make it turn out just fine...

Hindsight has always been better. Just need to see it before sight. PMC made a good point. Alot less work his way.
The way you said will work, just have some good saw blades.
Sorry it worked out this way.
