I kinda half way sewed up the mock up on the bottom end just to see how it would slide over on the wood base .

I did not have to cut it to get it to slide on but it did tear on one corner a little ..

I promise that the real seats will look 10 times better .. Hopefully !

maybe put you a sem around that edge all the way around the opening? I'd think that would toughen it up so the real thing doesn't rip...but then you might not have as much 'give' either...I'd be right proud to be able to do what you are doing...looks great to me..

Thanks Troop I think I may do Wood,s trick using the plastic banding along the edge to beef it up a little. It,s tucked under pretty far so I don,t think you will really see it ..

Not much to update but here is how I am making the top and side panels. Pre-sewn then cut using a template for the whole piece..I think I will just cut one out and then make a seat just to make sure it works well before I cut the rest..

Anyone have some tomato sauce for all this spaghetti ?

Cutting all the piping strips are a real pita !
This is all the vinyl I have left .

Gunna be real close on the green but should have plenty of the white for the jump seats.. I still have to cut a few strips of green to sew one half of the velcro on to but I may use white because it should not be seen ..

That is alot of piping material!

How did you cut the strips? Scissors, wheel...pull it through a blade?

Are you talking about the attachment of the vinyl to the wood ? I guess SS staples or maybe brass tacks thru the banding.
The hamster in my head is has been working overtime on these seats .. I know he,s ready for a break ..

Nope, I'm talking about how you're planning on attaching to the bottom. I'm not clear based on the picture and the layout of the vinyl in the pics.

Just dropping in to see what's up. Really can't help with the sewing but what I have seen looks good.
Looking forward to seeing the first seat done.

The seat backs will be a slip cover with a velcro flap to close the bottom. Just going to use the same flat felled seam to attach the flaps with the velcro to the front and back panels.. Does that make since ?

Might consider monel staples, rust/stain proof, not stain-less steel :)

Just checkin in... I'll join the b-day wishes as well....

Looks like you are mastering yet another skill... I just don't have the energy to learn to sew, but I think it will be cool that you can say that did everything in your boat (literally every stitch, bolt and wire) by yourself....

Florida's got 12-month boating weather - when is our splash?
