Well, there you go. W/ the model # could you find info @your Morse? Not a whole lot of info on just vintage Morse sewing machines....

Yeah, I had some issues but found the manual. If he get's it I will provide it. Not much to it. Really simple to set up and operate. Bobbin is so much easier than the Kenmore. Side mount, easy to load, Bobbin winder is also one of the easiest I've seen. Really a NICE machine and a pleasure to work with. Since I bought it I've yet to break a single needle. I broke 3 or 4 per session with the Kenmore and had more jams than I care to count. Not so with the Morse.

I remember those days. Pattern cutting is NOT my favorite thing.

Good luck on getting the sewing machines.
Must have a sharp pair of scissors to cut the vinyl that easy.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Here is a little tip on making a nice seam. I got some 3/4 " basting tape and split it in the middle for about a 3/8 " piece and used it to hold the vinyl together before stitching..

I used the little clamps to keep it in line and just pulled the protective tape out from under and it layed down pretty well. Then I made a 1/2 " line to run the first stich down.

I see that Grasshopper has payed attention to the Master. We are going to have to start calling you Woody Jr.
Glassing, fabricating, painting and now sewing ...... very impressive. I have to say man ... you have done very good work on all of it. I think you are shooting for the cover of the calendar ... lol.
Great job ..... keep up the good work.

I bought 2 rolls of this from Sailrite. You're doing Great. Man of Many Talents!!!

I struggled with pins, clamps, staples etc. Then I used this stuff and voila'. Makes things sooooo. much easier. At least for me. Makes it a bit more expensive, but worth it for me. $6 bucks for 180 ft of the stuff. Not to much to pay for the ease in alignment it provides.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Mrd,
After sticking myself a few times trying to use straight pins ! I punted and got the admiral to pick up some of the tape. Makes life much easier .. All she could find was the 3/4 " so I just split it in half. I think I,ll order the 3/8 from Woods link ..

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Yep thats where I got the idea to do the felled seams. You already sent me that link. I was going to do the semi flat seam but liked the look of the full flat but I cheated and just ran another stitch line to make it appear like a full flat . The full flat seam just looked like a lot of work..I wont tell if you don,t !:p

Wow. Took me awhile to get through this great thread. The boat looks awesome. I love the the splashwell/back seat area. Very very nice. I love the rounded corners. And the interior as well. Can't wait for the splash. Thanks for sharing.
