Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Yeah, my compressor has filter at the compressor and all my guns have filters and regulators at the handle. I usually have the compressor @ 100 psi and the gun regulator @ about 38 psi for my gun. I then play with volume, Fan, and distance and paint mixture till it all comes together. Temps will also change things and make you make changes to the entire scheme of things.

I have to admit, before coming to this site, I thought "orange peel" was just "what stuff looks like when you spray paint it" :p:p:facepalm:

I thought the same thing until I saw a video of someone buffing out orange peel . I'm pretty sure it looks like the last photo in my post #886.. It's like little holes in the paint. I think ..

My wife can fix that for you...she fixed fish eyes and orange peel for years at a plastics place that made auto and tractor parts...

If you're gettin fisheyes, drain the compressor and let it run with the valves open for 5 minutes. Change your filters. Make sure and wipe down with Acetone before shooting. FE is caused by contaminants.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I do drain the comp every time before I spray . I open the valve and run it till no more water comes out . I guess I should let it drain a little longer. I have a filter at the compressor with a drain valve on the bottom that I also empty. I just picked up a different type inline filter that changes color when It's time to replace that I will use along with the cheap red disposable ones . Hopefully that will help some..
Also after sanding I have been wiping down with 50/50 mix of act and msp . Should I just use acetone? After the wipe down I follow up with a tack cloth so I'm thinking the surface is pretty clean. I guess it must be coming from the compressor..

Tack Cloth?? Is it a treated Tack Cloth? I think I'd try just the 50/50 wipe down. and try that.

Watching paint dry...... Shoot coat #2 and no fisheye's this time ..:)
Then being the big dummy that I am I was pulling the tape off while still wet and it slipped out of my fingers and landed on the fresh paint.
Auuuhhhggggg! Oh well just a little more sanding.. I will shoot the next coat around 4 or 5 o'clock this afternoon..

I didn't use the tack cloth but I think it was moisture coming from the compressor . I wish well I thought I had the filters covered before the last coat of green. There are quite a few fish eye's on the green.
But no time to waist got stripe coat #3 on and the last coat on the transom. If I have to put one more coat of paint on the transom I'm gunna flip out !

One of my deciding factors to move here in Louisiana was a little hole in the wall place we would go for lunch when I had to work down here...Paradise Catfish...and they where!

Reminds me, I haven't been there in awhile...Maybe this Friday..hmmm
