GT ,the trailor is galvanized . And I agree adding extra metal for bunks may be to costly for trailor #2 . #2 axle is 11" longer than trl #1.Trl#1 does have a solid axle the rust is surface rust. Maybe replace bearings and t/rims.

Decker , yep it would be better with the axle further back you can pick up the front with one hand very easily.
The welder is a Millermatic 135 , 115v.

Hey CW I got my vinyl today ! I couldn't find the right shade of orange and blue so I stuck with the original greenish color. It's not spartan green is it? I think it may be a tad darker than original but I do like it! Now I got to start the paint match process..

Yep, sounds like a plan...here is agood read on welding Galvanized Steel... http://www.sperkoengineering.com/html/articles/WeldingGalvanized.pdf
That Miller 135 should be more than adequate, just get your settings, tested out on some scrap...
And moving the bogey back will definitely help on the weight distribution...

If you are going to be adding the extension and moving the bogey, here is how I would go about it...

Get some C-channel that fits inside the existing frame, 4-6 inches long, drill four 3/8-1/2" holes in the splices for plug welds, weld that to the back end of the frame on the inside, then get the extension pieces, butt them to the frame and weld everything together...then move the bogey to a spot between the second and third crossbrace...finally add a fourth crossbrace to the new extensions, side to side and you're done...from the looks of the picture, looks like you'd only need about a 18-24 inch extension...and I think it would be a lot easier than trying to add an extension to the front...

Then just add your new bunks and re-position the rollers and you should be good to go...

Nice score on the vinyl...take a swatch with you to the paint store for one of those fancy-schmansy computer generated color matches...

The last cross brace should be almost even with the transom.. Maybe a little shy and the bunks pretty much even..

I agree with GT1M. Sounds like a good plan. You don't want the transom to hang over the end of the bunks. That can cause a hook at the end of the boat.
The vinly looks good.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Well I want to replace the foam under the cap so I installed some raceway's to hold all the necessary wiring and cables. Spread some hairy PB on some smurf biskits , drilled holes and ran some pvc pipe.

Hopefully the only thing exposed will be the steering cable after foam.
I know it's not recommended but if I seal it good do you think the can foam would be ok?
The 2 part foam from the boat store is 40 bucks for enough to cover area . Gunna check with a few other suppliers here in town.

That's a great idea sp .... wish I would have thought of that when mine was upside down. Now I have to find a way to get my steering cable and the stern light wires up under there.

Are those pvc pipes still free enough to pull back out?

If so, you could go pool noodle & slide the pipe through the central hole in the noodle. May need to get the 'new' Mega noodle...

If you're worried about the foam & pipes being loose, you could spot foam w/ the spray to hold the noodle in place. BTW: I'm not sure how you'd fill that area w/ spray or pour in foam, w/out flipping it back over. Unless you can secure the 'good' contractor-grade spray foam, the other spray foam tends to have poor grab on vertical & overhead surfaces, in my experience.

Same with using the spray foam for spotting in the noodles under the rest of the gunwales. Tucked up under the gunwale, the spray foam will have minimal exposure to water, and although not ideal, it seems an acceptable area to use 'non-approved' spray foam.

But I'd go 1 of 2 ways w/ the spray:
-Completely fill the voids w/ spray foam so that you are as absolutely positive there are no air pockets for moisture to condense into (it seems that might be somewhat difficult)
-Leave some areas unfoamed to allow condensation to get out &/or allow a little air flow in & around the foam to make sure moisture air dries. Just use enough spray to secure the noodle to the gunwale.

Great wire chases & re-tasking of the Smurf biscuits.

Have a good wind down to the week.

I was thinking on spraying it full trimming it down flat the coating it with this sto water proofing stuff we use at work . It sticks to everything and remains flexable .

It's really good stuff I think you could use it to coat the underside of plywood decking with it before installing.

Stupid white and yellow dog were chasing an even stupider squirrel thru the garage and the white one had to jump on the bow and scratch the paint!

My Jaguars just picked a receiver from Okla St. Justin Blackmon in the draft. Wonder if he's any good? 1rst round hopefully so!

Bummer!

So you have a squirrel dog too? My dog can't wait for the door to open of a morning. He runs straight to the nearest tree hoping to surprise one. I have even seen him try to sneak up on them like a cat...He did manage to catch a yoiung one a few weeks ago, so that has wetted his appetite. :)

I'm sure you can fix that little bit of scratching.

Got 3 squirrel dogs yellow lab Buddy flushes em out, white dalmatian mix Bendi chases em down, and black lab Cocoa is there for moral support! She used to run em down but she's so old now she just can't do it anymore..

I'll dab a little white paint in the scratch next time I have some mixed.

That sucks sp ..... you should be able to just touch it up. I have a small one near the stern where the steering cable end kind of flopped onto it and caused a small chip.

Probably not one of my brightest idea's I broke up pieces of the old foam then foamed them all in. I'll trim it down and touch up with more foam.
