Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Me and FSIL took the new addition to the fleet out for a spin just to see how the 85 ran. I know the foam under the floor is soaking wet . The water keeps dripping out slowly went bow up. The good news is the power tilt works good and the motor ran like a champ! It takes about a second to get on plane and took some ruff water pretty well.. The bad news is the steering is awful so are the seats or lack of. And the absolute worst thing that could ever happen did! I lost my favorite Florida Gator hat that I use for working around the house!! AHHHHHHHH:eek:  :( Well maybe I'll catch it fishing one day!!
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I know a guy that can send you a WV Mountaineer hat, or a UK Wildcats hat..... Either or both might help w/ what ails you:cool:

Whatever that may be. Fairly reliable CATCHING improvers I can tell you. Fishing is for posers:eek: All that snazzy gear & those fancy boats, the hats & glare reduction glasses etc etc etc

Good news on the motor plus T&T:D Sounds like a pretty quick up on plane stat, esp w/ water actively leaking out of the wet foam & deck.

I think I've covered the hat already:facepalm:

I vote 2-tone seats. Really not that much harder to do than one color.

They look great!

How do they attach into the sides of the hull, just the 4 screws/bolts along the top edge into the gunwale?

Yep the top attaches to the cap and the bottom to the ski locker witch is fastened thru the lower rub rail holes.

Lookin good SP. love the side pockets. My cap has a couple of area's I was dreading replacing the wood on but after seeing what you did on those pockets I don't think it looks that bad. I mean what's a little more itching afterall? lol

Thanks CW ,the control box mounts to the starboard side panel so I had to replace the bad wood. The portside had wood but nothing fastens to it . Maybe I'll mount a cup holder there or something..

Glass work looks great.
Sorry to hear about the steering. I guess for a few more extra bucks that can be fixed.

The worst is losing your hat.

Looks like racing stripes! Sat down with mom and figured vinyl . 3 yrds real tight so will get 4 of the green, 3 yrds white.
What type and color of thread should I get and hopefully get from the same source?
I informed my 82 yr old mother that she would not be sewing all these seats and she's going to demonstrate to me and I will do the work! Knowing my mom she'll see me messing up and bump me out of the way and knock em out! LOL!

Sorry... I didn't get is good look at the seats.. I was too blinded/distracted by that pretty paint job in the background....I went back and looked at your initial pictures.... With the new SeaCast transom and paint you have really transformed this boat.... Keep up the good work...

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Here's the guy I got all my stuff from...
http://stores.ebay.com/Trimjobber-Canvas-Vinyl-and-Fabric
http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Spec-W...320746417601?pt=US_Fabric&hash=item4aadf9edc1

Have you decided if you're going to use piping? I would If I were you. I'd go with white. Trimjobber has that too or you can make your own.
I thought I would make the white piping. I thought it may be cheaper . Ya think 1 spool of the high-spec thread would be enough?

Thanks Troop, GT ,Pmc !

OH, yeah, one spool is plenty. I've done 3 captains chairs, and my bench seat and not even made a dent in it.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I decided to do something with the left over smurf biscuits. So I cut some up and pb'ed and glassed them in under the top cap for extra backing under the H/T hold down clips and stern light ..

They say that seacast will float so I threw a piece in some water..

Yep it floats!

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Made it over to the trimjobbers ebay store today and ordered the vinyl. They didn't have the color I wanted here so they are sending it here from Orlando . I met the guy Mark Tibbles . He was very helpful with getting everything that I needed. They have piles and piles of stuff in the warehouse! I should have the vinyl Monday..
