Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

And jbc the trailor wasn't worth 2 cents until I put new axle, hubs and rims on it. Thats a story I'm trying to forget. But a few more parts and pieces and It will be like brand new!:)

Well from here it looks great, nicely done. Can't tell it isn't still original, and that adds value right?:D

I now know something about iffy trailers too. But it made it the 1 way.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks Pmc

CW I do seem to get a little picky sometimes even at work . At least thats what my guys at work say but thats my job ! If I don't get on to them my boss gets on to me ! And he signs the checks! LOL! When I took it outside in the sunlight I found more stuff I wish I had fixed. Oh well guess I'll let it go.

Hey sp .... I did the same. After it was painted I noticed a lot of things that I never saw ... I let it go also. I figured a 52 year old hull should have some battle scars ... lol.

Gives them extra character, just like their owners:D

Once it's in the water, you won't see a thing. And when everyone is pointing, it won't be at a few small blemishes. Same when your driving by them with on the trailer. It's because it's probably the oldest & best they've seen. So yeah, its all good!:)

While sittin around watching paint dry  I did manage to do a little work on the inside side panels. I ground down and tore out the rotten wood...

Then I cut out the new peices and prepared them to be P/B,ed on to the old panels.

I'll clean up the edges and probably glue them in tomorrow.

Where do those panels go & what's with the oval? Makes a side pocket in each panel?

Cool, so they are like side pockets? to store stuff?...

Every little project completed, gets us one step closer to the magical day...

Now that I have actually started some glassin, I have been re-invigorated to get the thousand or so other little projects a little attention...

Vertical gloveboxes, 1 per side, very handy:cool:

The glass work on the ply backer looked good BTW, & yep, 1 step at a time.

1 Day I'll remember that while I'm home.... Have a great weekend

Been thinking about seats I really want to make a set of these sun and fun seats. The bottoms and backs are curved . I was thinking on using 1/2" ply and kerfing to make the radius placing in a jig and glassing to seal and hold it's shape. Thinking on white with the blue/green accent. The basses I may just paint.
Ya think I'm getting to ambitious ?

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Those look like they are perfect for you boat...

I think you could make those perfectly by doing the kerf and glass...the only possible problem, if it even is one, are the multi-position hinges so they lock in the upright position, but then allow them to lay flat for lounging...

Maybe look for something that might work here... http://www.rockler.com

Or maybe someone else has a good lead on these hinges?

Yeah, I think those would look really KooL!

Yeah , the hardware is gunna be a challenge. There's a fellow iboater on the mfg site thats got a whole set that he is giving away. Or at least the 2 back seats but he's in NY and the shipping would really high. He is going to help me out with measurements and pics. Just waiting for him to email me back.

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Just thinking out loud here, but maybe they could be fabricated using some stainless steel flat bar either riveted or bolted together...

Have him send you lots of pics and measurements...we might can figure it out...???

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

I have narrowed the vinyl colors down to 2 Jetstream Imperial Green jet012 and Independence China Green ind8417.
They seem to match the original boat color the best. The good news is trimjobbers has there ebay store about 2 min. from my work office.
No shipping cost!! Now I have to figure out how much to get. If I paint the inside of the cockpit all white I think I would make the seats a solid color . If I go with blue/green sides then maybe a 2 tone seat.
Any thoughts guys?

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

Two tone is harder due to the extra stitching involved, but it does look way kooler...:D
