Turn your compressor to 100 psi and then play with the regulator on the gun somewhere between 30 and 40. Adjust the volume on the gun as well. the more you shoot and play with it the more you'll "Get it" and then all of a sudden "Bam" you can "See and Hear" it as it comes out of the gun. Once you do you'll have it for a long time. You need just enough air to atomize the paint but not so much that it blows it of the surface. Enough volume to get good coverage but not so much that it runs. Each gun is different and each tip is diffferent so if you change em, the learning curve starts again, just not as steep. From what I can see, "Ya Dun Rite Gud, Fer yer Furst Tyme!!!!"

Looking good S.P.

Like wood says, practice, practice, practice...eventually it becomes easy to tell what the right settings are by feel...

As far as thinning primer, that applies to almost any paint that comes out of a can and into a spraying medium...most spray guns can not properly atomize the paint without thinning, for that you need a pressure pot or a commercial HVLP that proffesional house painters use to blast 5 gallon buckets of latex paint out at a house...

The main thing with thinning is not too much and not too little, again... it goes back to getting familiar with the equipment and the products you are using...

Most of the time you can begin thinning a paint between 5% and 10%, then test, some paints are capable of being thinned as much as 30% to even 50%, but they also, usually contain extra additives like catalysts or hardeners...

Yep^^^ On my primer I thinned 1/3 cup of acetone to 2 cups of Primer. No Hardener.

Safe travels. Good luck scoring some 'good' cool stuff for your rig!

Now I'll really miss going to the company seminar in Jacksonville this year.

Thanks Gt , I,ll have to run a pic down from the mfg site then figure out how to post it over here.

Trip down to seacast went well! The people there were very helpful . Got there just in time to watch em mix some of there deck mixture. They were making a pad for a gas tank and battery to sit on for a mini speedboat. Here some pics ..

On the way back we stopped in St Aug checked out 2 salvage places . They had tons of stuff and you could look for hours . I found a latch for the H/T that was broken it was almost a perfect match . I got a cold coming on and feel like carp so we headed back home. Took some cold med an took a 2 hour nap . I wanted to lay up a layer of mat and cloth on inside of transom . It did,nt go well I tryed to do in one piece by pre wetting then installing . I was trying to not use to much resin and did,nt mix enough got all ticked off had glass all over me the boat the dog so I just tore it off and with a few no alot of choice words chunked it ! I new I should,nt have messed with it the way I felt!!

Sorry to hear the salvage yard visit got cut short. But now you know where it is, always a chance to go again!

Really hate to hear the layup didn't go well. Sometimes we need the little voice in our head to speak LOUDER!

Rest up, still plenty of time left in the weekend..... BTW how do you get poly resin off the dog?

Hope ya feel better soon!
