Or a little vinyl curtain like this.

Or a piece of covered plywood on either hinges or a set of hood pins like my old Sunray

Am I the only one that heard jb call yours "shorter", Sam? When I saw the picture, before even scrolling down, I thought, I sure hope he's gonna figure a way to cover that battery/tank area....can't wait to see it.

Sam, I laughed so hard I leaned back in my computer chair(cause I'm still full from my "all you can eat fishfry dinner") & fell right back!! Don't even think about asking for pictures!!!!

In my defense, it's cold here so............... Well you know....................

Since your 'to be covered' bilge area is not as grandiose in height as my reference photo's is, perhaps 3 slider panels would look 'more correct'. :watermelon:

Would smaller in stature be more politically correct?

With the wood dash I'm thinking 2 cypress frames with mesh centers that slide. Wood accent forward, wood accent aft, something small in middle to tie all together. Yeah baby!

:focus: Seeing as though the area in question is not very grandiose . 3 sliders might make it easier to access the tanks . It would make a larger opening when slid to one side . Another thing I will have to deal with is the fuel tanks stick out past the splash apron a little . I would need to bump out the rails some kind of way ...

I think you are kind of committed to working w/ the width you have. The seats & beverage keeper (BTW: Nice work!) are kind of a limiting factor preventing making the covered area wider. It might be a good time to start shopping for a narrower permanent installed tank. Father's day is a bit away, so plenty of time to watch for a deal. Filler installed in the modified splashwell or gunwale. Maybe?

I don,t have any wood on the dash unless your talking about the under dash glove box bulkhead area . But yeah that's what I was kinda shooting for . A little stained wood here and there would finish off the inside nicely . Also I want to buy some new stained wooden paddles that I will paint some accent stripes on to hang in the gunwales .

Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics

^^ Thanks Bear ! ^^

Small update ..I had just enough of the cypress to make these lounge support brackets ..
I still need to install the locking braces to keep the support from folding in . I just got some cheap ones from H/D . They may start to go south after awhile but can easily be replaced .
Another observation : / RANT !
What a huge pain in the behind it is to screw through the vinyl and batten underneath into the set backs . :frusty:
The screw or drill bit would grab hold of the batten and wad it up like a big cotton candy stick ! Then then ya got this big ol marble sized wad of batten stuck behind the vinyl to have to try and pull through an 1/8" hole . AHHHHHHHHGGGGGG ! Amongst other chosen words ...
I even tried to heat up a nail and pre melt the batten back . That helped a little but not much ..
Oh well enough of my rant . :violin:
Hope ya'll have a great tomorrow !

How to drill and NOT wad up Batting...Puncture the Vinyl with an Awl then use a piece of copper tubing or some other hollow tube to act as a "Sleeve" for the drill bit. Use Needle nose pliers to hold the sleeve.

Hmmmm that would work for drilling a hole but then ya got to run a screw in it . With my luck I would still end up with an oversized Q-tip !

When you finish with the reclining chairs you will have to cut the boat in half. strengthen the stringers and stretch the boat another 5 feet or so so you'll be able to add a "teak beach" off the stern and a wide screen TV in between the front and back seats. (with beautiful wooden accents of course!) Do you remember the old Oldsmobile commercials that said: "This isn't your fathers Oldsmobile"? That goes double for your MFG. It just keeps getting better. Amazing attention to detail! Keep it up. :D
