If I can make it to Fl for the splash, can I trigger the steam launch? And what are we launching :D

BTW: Bulkhead mock up looks fab!

I don't know, maybe some bait missiles or chum bombs...but yeah, you're welcome to push the launch button...:)

Set up will be perfect for tearing bass a new one with the elevated bow and stern casting decks.

Gus, you may have mentioned it and I overlooked it, but what kind of carpet did you use for the bunks on the trailer? Outdoor? Thanks Dan

El cheapo Home Depot exterior Gray and I think it was the 6700 adhesive...I did go for the belts and suspenders approach by stapling the carpet after gluing with Monel staples...

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Alrighty, then...
Saturday...
Update...
Can you say, MMMMMMMMMMMMPH!:eek:hwell:
Was one of those days where I could have stayed in bed and gotten almost as much done without the effort...
My goal was fuzzy at best, but I needed to attach what was left of the cap/rim to the hull to get an accurate measurement for the layout and construction of the spars and bulkheads, along with knowing where I could/needed to make attachment points...

After getting everything loaded and headed for the shop, daylight was already burning up...by the time I actually got started doing anything, it was already past 9:30AM...
Then the first task, after getting set up to actually start working on the boat, was to attach the rub rail and cap rim to the hull...
That mission took a huge chunk of the day...by the time I got that done, it was after 1PM...sheesh...working alone on long flimsy sections of rub rail is a huge pain...well I finally got it all attached, temporarily and only in a few places...still need to drill the other million or so mounting holes for the rest of the attaching screws...that will happen at a later date...But at least it is repositioned in its correct place...It made a pretty big difference in both the actual position of the rim and in the rigidity of it...before I attached it, the slightest pressure on the rim would flex it downward, now it almost feels solid...

The pics were taken after a little more progress was made...

I was able to get a few more steps towards getting the rod locker bulkheads closer to being installed by cutting out a section of fore deck and the eventual rod tip holder bulkhead...

And I got the fuel tank quasi mocked up with its bulkheads...

Unfortunately nothing can become permanent until the money tree flourishes and I can get and pour the expanding foam under the sole...

Anyhow, after a family breakfast get together tomorrow, I hope to get a few more hours of getting very little done, but thinking a great deal about how to do it...

My other fuzzy goal is to try and make some cardboard templates of several of the bulkheads/spars that it will need to tie everything together...eventually...maybe even get a bit more of the layout/mock up of the fuel/mechanical locker...

Happy Sunday, everyone...

Everything is looking good Gus.. It's to bad you have to cover up that beautiful gas tank.. Well at least all of us here on the dry dock will be able to see it..

Have a great productive Sunday..

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Well after an awesome Family breakfast at a local Mom&Pop Diner, got home, changed clothes and headed for the shop...

Got a bunch of cardboard templates made up for the forward bulkeads that will go side to side around the rod locker...

Cardboard strips and tools to create the templates...

Templates made...

Decided to make some new holes...

For these...

They are only temporarily installed, but they gave me a boost of inspiration along with a little extra inspiration from these...

Continued...

Part Two...
To mock up the live well...

That is almost as far as I can go until I can get the expanding foam purchased and poured...

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend and may the work week be profitable and short...:D

Thats a nice size livewell....I suppose you could throw some lobsters in there for the non fishing boat-b-que trips :D

Good job, the visual is starting to take shape!

Hey buddy, finally got caught up on all your progress. Really lookin good man. Think about the size and shape of your live well. If your planning on storing your non bait catch in it and using it as a cooler thats one thing. You might consider having a couple live wells that are smaller, would be better for bait fish longevity and easier to keep oxygenated. Also rounded corners will help keep your bait alive. Keep in mind, the larger the bait tank, the more water weight and splashing from that water in heavier seas/wakes.

Um, Gus, your boat is on fire:

Oh wait, that's the stokie, its your mad mockup fab skills that are on fire :flame:

Nice work!

Look for a large plain brown box headed your way this week. I'm sending you some extra BS to help fertilize that moolah tree..... :)

That ChrisCraft254 fella makes a few good points, but I suspect that big ole wide livewell will get get lots of hamster wheel time before it becomes permanent...

Can't keep live bait, any & all fish caught, and a cold frosty libation all in the SAME compartment anyway, right....

Nothing like stirring the imagination as well as creative juices flowing having the trifecta of a beer, porky goodness and nice dark maduro stogie. Fantastic!

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Thanks for dropping by, fellas...

Actually, CC...about the live well...
There is a method to the madness...
True, it is huge...
And true, it is still in the planning stages...
But...
The plan is...
It will be sub-divided into two or three sections as needed...
I plan on having removable screens or dividers that will slide in as needed...
In full use mode...
One section will be for bait fish, if and when I use them...I tend to stick with artificial lures most of the time...
The other two sections will be for division/culling of the catch...
With the dividers in place, I can choose if I want one, two or all three sections wet or dry...
The actual finished dimension is going to be a bit smaller than what you see since I am going to be building inwards from the outside dimension...
There will be at least 1/2" to maybe as much as 1" insulation all around along with rounded inside corners, and the actual water level will be approximately 2-4" below the top edge...
The actual interior dimensions are going to be closer to approximately 45-55 gallon capacity, wide open...in half, about 20-25 gallon or in thirds about 15 gallons each...
Also when sub divided, they will each have individually controlled aeration/circulation
I have been doing a lot of research into live well designs and I am attempting to create the be all to end all of live wells...should be interesting...
Oh yeah, and the frosty libation cooler, that will be the center compartment under the seats...

Have a great one, y'all!:D
