I can't follow this thread anymore... It makes me feel like a total slacker...

Gus, will the batteries fit on the sides there??? My eye may be deceiving me, but does the flat surface extend beyond the decking? (or do you have some new-fangled, super narrow batteries?).

Actually I will be cutting out a base for each of the four batteries out of plywood. They will create the flat surface, have tapered edges plus room for whatever hold down system I end up using then they will be PB'd and tabbed into place...

You can see what I mean in this pic, under the battery...

You a slacker? Never, my good sir!

Were those photos of the rod locker bulkies taken in your living room? God bless you, I once built a V8 engine for drag racing in my kitchen. Had it on an engine stand, wife....er, ah, ex-wife was a little upset, but I was making the house payment at the time.

I just get a smile on my face everytime I look at the details you are putting into this rebuild....and like PMC, start thinking I am Slacker!

Here is to some good weather and a slow clock for you this weekend, can't wait to see what you have in store!

Looks like plenty of room for the batteries .. Now I just gotta ask .. Is that little 2x constructed flat seat looking thing part of the seating assembly or just a temp place to rest and perform the occasional one cheek sneak ?

Most definitely in my Living Room, actually, since I don't have a garage, it has been my defacto garage since the beginning of this build...My amazing bride of 28+ years is, has been and always will be my very own God sent Angel...she has put up with my idiosyncrasies like no one in this world ever could...Yes Sir, I definitely am Blessed! Thank you!

Thanks Troy, you my friend are definitely not in the slacker category, as a matter of fact, you have been an inspiration to me on many an occasion throughout this wild and wacky project...

Most definitely just a mock up, actually some old T-111 siding from a long ago home project and a couple of almost rotten 2x's...had to have a place setting for what will eventually become the seating area and the once in a while silent but deadly release......OK, well maybe not so silent...:joyous:...

Saturday evening post...
Got everything to the shop by Friday night, got a fairly early start on Saturday, 8AM...
First major job of the day was to trim the inner lip of the cap rim, then remove it, flip it and clean up some more rotten wood and remove all the foam that was left on it...

Next...

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Got it mostly cleaned up and ready for some hole repairs...

Next on the agenda was to prep the Rod locker Bulkies for some CSM...

One side done on each...2.5 L of resin used to wet out the wood and the CSM...
Feeling a little beat down, called it day around 5PM, went home, got de-itch-ified and took a run to Lowes for some new respirator filters and a few other odds and ends...the originals were gettin a little hard to suck air through...:painkiller:

Tomorrow I'll get the other sides done...hopefully get some holes patched on the cap rim and see what else I can get done...

Hope everyone is having a Marvelous Weekend!

Further updates within 24 hours...:yo:

Gus you are on a roll !
Do you have to pack up everything at the end of the day and haul it all back to the house ? That would be a job in itself ..
Keep it rollin !

Yeah, even though I have been told by the boss that I could keep all my stuff there, including the boat...I know better...
My stuff will eventually get in the way and well, you know...it is better to just pack it in and out...
Even though that eats up a couple of hours each way...
But hey, I do get the use of all the facilities, so all in all it is a pretty fair deal...:watermelon:

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...its off to Boat Work, I Go...

Happy Sunday, y'all!:D

Re: Love, Necessity and Pride

Early Sunday afternoon progress update...
Almost done for the day...
Had to take a break to let some resin dry before I can flop the cap rim back on the hull and get everything loaded up for the return trip home...

Didn't get anything done...to the hull, that is...

The cap rim on the other hand got a good grinding in preparation for some hole patching and cleat backer installation...
All of the old perforations are pretty much useless, so I added a CSM patch to them...later when I get it back on the hull and am ready for some finishing work, I will dish them out as needed and fill and fair them...
A majority of the rub rail screw holes were wallowed out pretty badly and some spots on the edge of the rim were really thin, so I added some CSM patches and then applied at least one layer of 1708 all the way round...in a couple of areas I doubled up the 1708 to add some thickness...
The cleat backers are 3/4" ply that I attached using a resin soaked piece of CSM between the backer and the rim, then I laid a cover piece of CSM and a reinforcement layer of 1708. Prolly rip the cap rim to pieces before the cleats ever come loose...

The rod locker bulkheads got a layer of CSM on the other sides and after a little trimming of excess glass they will be ready for the next phase...I must admit, I did them first thing this morning and with everything else going on, I forgot to take pics, so I guess they really aren't ready...

Gotta go back in a while, grind off some excess glass, get everything loaded out for the ride back home and wash down some of the cars to remove the thick layer of glass dust off of them...hehehehe...
