If you want to help protect the 'fabric' cover, order a tarp from these guys:
http://www.billboardtarps.com/
Look for tarps that have channels/pipe sleeves

On another forum, they have a longer then a 10yr in-service life as boat/snow mobile storage. That IS in heavy snow country, so I don't know what it'll do in the Floridian death ray sun

Is the tarp big and blue ? BBE with metal post superstucture ! The ethylene glystuff sounds interesting . Maybe a before and after pic ?
Btw , all the ribbing about our weather at our more northern buds during the winter has come back at us . I think if there is such thing as spontaneous human combustion it would happen down here for sure !

There you go Gus, I found it extremely beneficial to get some sort of roof overhead, makes working with the glass way easier, plus the shade adds some welcome comfort for the applicator too ;)....that is until mother nature decides to dissipate it like a fart in the wind lol....the wind can be kept at bay with some strategically placed cheap wood purlins, and some anchor lines....it was the snow that finally did me in...but ya don't have to deal with that in So Fl.....cinder blocks with pieces of pipe cemented in make good portable anchors..like the flea market guys use.

Im getting itchy to get back to my boat work too...no pun intended, but its coming soon I hope....

No more BBE! Even though it served its purpose, back when, that monstrosity was a continues pain it the tukus to keep from collapsing when full of water or becoming a kite in wind and the blue seemed to absorb more heat than black pavement...
Nah, the new and improved BBE does have a metal superstructure and a white tarp...
I'll get some pics this afternoon of the cleared up areas, some of the before ones are back in Post# 2238...

Thanks for the heads up...I might just look into grabbing one of those...very reasonable prices...
BTW, do you know how to Multi-Quote on the forum???

Hey Gus, just checking in after being frustrated with the forum "upgrades" for a while and discovered I now need some aluminum epoxy and ethylene glycol. Glad to see you are still at it and the TOP is coming back to life. Good luck with that cover!

Click the quote 'button' for each post you want to quote. The quote button changes from gray to orange to indicate you've clicked it. Re-click an orange quote button & it will change back to gray. Once you have clicked a quote button, at the top left of your browser window, the Post Reply to XYZ 'button also changes color. If you click to quote more then 1 post, there will be a number in parenthesis at the end of the button. That # should match the number of posts you want to quote. When you're ready, click Post Reply to XYZ and the quotes all appear in your post reply window.

No matter what order YOU click them, the quotes appear in your post in the order they were posted. But you can cut & paste them to move them around as you see fit (just like before) and you can copy & paste the quote code at the beginning & the end of the text to break quoted text into smaller pieces, like I did above....

Happy Friday, Happy Friday!
Man oh man it has been a week...thank goodness we are swamped at work and the green bush is starting to show signs of life...
I am excited that the portable shelter is beginning to take shape and if all goes well, before the end of this weekend I will hang my shingle and get the Bassassin all tucked away in its new digs...

Still gotta get some bases for the legs, ground anchors and rope before I raise the roof up on its legs...

More later...;)

Hey, In your Spare time You could have a Tent Revival!!!:D:rockon::peace::bounce::bolt:

I'll bring potato salad...... The revival's pot luck, right?

Looks like it'll be a nice break from the sun, but the cover will be even better between moolah tree harvests :watermelon:

Where once sat the 'ol "Bassassin", is a temporarily empty space soon to be occupied by my bud's boat for continuing repairs, upgrades and prep...

And now his Cape Craft is tucked away...

Here, comfortably residing under its new and improved NON-BBE, portable shelter is the "Bassassin"...

It is now officially the newly commissioned "Bassassin Blvd."

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I could handle it if it only got to 92º...its the 115º humidity that gets me...

Well its been almost a month since any real restoration progress has been made, but finally a little, albeit temporary and partial forward progress has been made...
I, like Troop, have been dealing with landscape issues, although nothing quite as severe as storm damage, just cleaning up some way too overgrown trees that are more of a nuisance than anything actually beneficial...
Those being mostly taken care of...I was able to spend the day today drilling 4 new holes in my transom...for the eventual mounting of the Tower of Power...
Mind you, this is all just temporary, as it will all have to come back off to allow the completion of the splash well and making clearance for the 2 bottom motor bracket nuts and washers, as you will see in the following pics...
I even went so far as to mount the intermediate housing to get a pretty good idea of where the anti ventilation plate will approximately sit in relation to the transom...
It is really one of those, one step forward, three steps back kind of deal, but it feels like progress none the less...
Hopefully, I can get some more figuring and calculating done in the next couple of weeks to actually make some permanent forward progress...
Until then, here are the pics of the motor bracket and intermediate housing, installed and the T&T actually used...

Made a drill guide out of 3 scrap pieces of 3/4" plywood, glued and screwed together, then drilled with the 1/2" drill bit on my drill press...

And another drill guide to reach the lower mounting bolts by drilling into a chunk of 2x4...

Then, after drilling all four mounting holes, I attached the Motor Bracket using Zinc Plated, Grade 8, 1/2" X 13 X 4" Bolts, Washers and Locknuts...

Need to grind out some clearance for the lower bolt washers and nuts...

Attached the Intermediate housing using brand new solid aluminum motor mounts and Grade 8 Bolts, Washers and Nuts...

And did a quick test of the T&T...

Like I said, this is all just temporary to get some measurements and it will all have to come back off, but at least it was a partial forward step in this long and drawn out restoration...

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and may all our boats remain rot-free!
