Re: Iraqi Prison Fiasco Revenge

So, the general concensus seems to be that Nick Berg would probably still have died even if the photos from Abu Gharib had never surfaced, and I'm inclined to agree.

Do you think it would have been as widely publicized? I don't remember this kind of outcry over Daniel Pearl.

Beheadings by Muslims have been going on for the last few years in the Philippines.

Re: Iraqi Prison Fiasco Revenge

Nor was I, so in all fairness, there could possibly have been a huge outcry on this forum. However, I hear about Nick Berg everywhere, but I hardly heard a thing when Pearl was beheaded.

Do you think the media would be sensationalizing this story if the photos of Abu Gharib had never come out? I don't think they would. They pay much more attention to the reasons why we shouldn't be fighting this war, rather than exposing the reasons why we ARE.

I think it is immaterial that the Abu Gharib photos surfaced. I think there is a very good chance that the bad guys were just trying to capitalize on what they see as the anti-war momentum that the Liberal Damnocrats are using the photos for. I daresay that if the Damnocrats and the US media had not had not picked this issue up, it would have not grown to the proportions that it currently has.

Look back, what the Damnocrats and the media are doing right now, is just another attempt, in a continuous string of attempts, to get to Bush. It is unconscionable, when our troops are in the thick of it, for the Robert Byrds and the Ted Kennedys to rail against this country. They are the ones who should be jailed and jailed for TREASON at that.

Re: Iraqi Prison Fiasco Revenge

Are there any Muslims here? If so I would like to hear why none of your revered clerics ever said anything about 9-11. Nor did they say anything about Daniel Pearle nor will they say anything about this kid from PA.

I keep hearing that Islam is a religion of peace. Here are a few quotes from their books. I found them on another site and have not researched them but I have heard a few of them before so I believe the quotes are accurate.

Bukhari:V4B52N50 “The Prophet said, ‘A single endeavor of fighting in Allah’s Cause is better than the world and whatever is in it.’”
Qur’an 9:88 “The Messenger and those who believe with him, strive hard and fight with their wealth and lives in Allah’s Cause.”
Qur’an 9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.”
Qur’an 9:112 “The Believers fight in Allah’s Cause, they slay and are slain, kill and are killed.”
Qur’an 9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.”
Ishaq:325 “Muslims, fight in Allah’s Cause. Stand firm and you will prosper. Help the Prophet, obey him, give him your allegiance, and your religion will be victorious.”
Qur’an 8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”
Qur’an 8:39 “So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world).”
Ishaq:324 “He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.’”
Qur’an 9:14 “Fight them and Allah will punish them by your hands, lay them low, and cover them with shame. He will help you over them.”
Qur’an 9:123 “Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you.”
Qur’an 4:78 “Wherever you are, death will find you, even if you are in towers strong and high! So what is wrong with these people, that they fail to understand these simple words?”
Qur’an 4:84 “Then fight (Muhammad) in Allah’s Cause. Incite the believers to fight with you.”
Qur’an 4:94 “Believers, when you go abroad to fight wars in Allah’s Cause, investigate carefully, and say not to anyone who greets you: ‘You are not a believer!’ Coveting the chance profits of this life (so that you may despoil him). With Allah are plenteous spoils and booty.”
Qur’an 8:12 “I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle.”
Qur’an 8:57 “If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned.”
Ishaq:326 “If you come upon them, deal so forcibly as to terrify those who would follow, that they may be warned. Make a severe example of them by terrorizing Allah’s enemies.”
Qur’an 2:216 “Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims), though you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and like a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not.” [Another translation reads:] “Warfare is ordained for you.”
Qur’an 33:22 “Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah and have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting). Some have completed their vow to extreme and have been martyred fighting and dying in His Cause, and some are waiting, prepared for death in battle.”

If those are "peaceful" scriptures I'll eat my hat. Make no mistake we are in a religious war and have been for a long time. The leftists in this country are the enemy's biggest allies. If the the US gives up her position of strength and lets the UN handle everything our kids & grandkids will be on their knees screaming to the east 5 times a day.

I'll stop my rant now.

The reason why there is not as great an outcry when this Mr Berg was beheaded was that this sort of behaviour is to be expected from these people.
The outcry over the prison scandal on the other hand was a good thing because we should never allow ourselves to go down to that level. It was our own conscience crying out.
In the arab world which is based on village culture it is very common for cousins to marry(this way the money stays in the family/tribe)you do that for a few generations and it is no longer amazing why there were that many Saddam look alikes. One of the problems of inbreeding is that people become mentally challenged. It is unfair to expect these people to behave on a more civilized level. They would not know how.

I think you are right about this. Overall, my imperssion of what happened is changing. The death is not justified, but neither should it be considered unexpected.

Nick Berg had no business being in Iraq. Berg was not affiliated with any company, he was there looking to capitalize on the war. Being Jewish, it was the equivalent of a black guy walking into the middle of a Klan cross burning and asking of they want to buy fire insurance.

I just heard his father had filed a lawsuit last month against the American government because the Iraqi police arrested his son. The American forces tried to get Nick Berg to leave and offered a coalition forces escort out. Berg refused. We paid to bring the body home. Now his dad is saying the US should have done more to protect his son in Iraq. Stay tuned…more to come. Look for a future lawsuit as “dad” tries to capitalize on this.

The inbreeding defense? I believe Jimmy the Greek was labeled a racist for this. I think we need some clarification on this one.

I could have said this in a rude way,I tried to be elegant. But yes it is there. The result of prearranged marriages within small villages and within the families of the tribe is often obvious.
Call me a racist if you like,I have been in enough of these villages and towns to know what is going on.
Use it as a defense???? I was looking to accuse without getting poofed.

Yeah, it’s a flat out, uncalled for racist remark.

The comment brings a whole new low to this board. It also displays the hatred from the “other” side that is the rational that continues to drive the Islamic culture toward a perceived need to annihilate Israel. Every coin has two sides. Thanks for sharing.

There are no known issues associated with inbreeding by marriage to cousins. The problems are introduced by from marriage to immediate family, i.e. mother, father, brother, sister. And even then it takes successive generations to manifest.

Re: Iraqi Prison Fiasco Revenge

Rolmops,

Please don't get me wrong, my intension was not to accuse you or anyone with that label. (racist) And upon re-reading my post I can see where you would get that. Calling someone a racist in this day in age is precieved as equivalent to being a child molester and the label is thrown about far to easily when someone gets the least bit offended. If I offended you I apologize. Having read your posts for the past months and I know you have experience in the middle east. I have none.

There is in my opinion no way to equate what occured in the prison to the brutal and protacted execution of Mr. Berg. These people were sophisticated enough to digitally record and post this execution, put together the statement Mr. Berg was forced to read, wear masks, utilize it for political gain, and evade capture to this point. I believe they are mentally competent to comprehend what murder is and the fact that it is an offense to virtually all world religions, laws, and cultures.

I am not willing to extend something as speculative as inbreeding as a mitigating factor to this barbaric act, even in the hypothetical .

Re: Iraqi Prison Fiasco Revenge

"A lot of people think President Bush should apologize for this whole Iraqi prisoner mess. Funny, but I don't remember hearing anyone say the deviants who strung up those four American contractors in Fallujah should apologize. Or for that U.S. military convoy that was blown to bits checking out a supposedly sacred mosque. No one's apologizing to them. Or to the families of those earliest American prisoners of the war, two of whom were butchered and hacked in captivity. No apologies there. Or to all those Palestinians I remember dancing in the streets on September 11, after 3,000 innocents were senselessly slaughtered here. No apologies asked for. No apologies given. Or to those scores of United Nations workers injured and killed in a Baghdad terrorist attack for simply trying to keep the peace. No apologies from those who couldn't keep the slightest hint of humanity. Or Aban Elias, the American engineer taken hostage on Thursday. Where are the 'we're sorries' for him? It is not surprising that we take the actions of a few to make a grander, false point about the many. Why should it be surprising that the world would prefer to trump pictures of American soldiers abusing prisoners over American soldiers helping kids and curing the sick? No, it's far easier to say 'screw you,' than simply 'thank you.' There is much we do wrong in this country. But at least we have the guts to admit it. We deal with it and correct it. It's a shame that so many outside this country haven't the guts to acknowledge it. Or even critics in this country, who haven't the decency to withhold sweeping judgment on it. And that's sorry, indeed." -- Neil Cavuto
