Re: hull extension in progress with picks

OOPS! what you gonna do with the bote now! Is it gonna go behind the store under one of those portable garages? It would be handy to have it at the store locked in the compound. Are you gonna rent another shop just to get booted out again? Maybe you could get rid of the appliances and just drag it in the back of the store.:D Rent a C-Can, move the stuff from the warehouse in to the c-can behind the store and put the boat in the warehouse?

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

LOL... Oops has a new avatar picture I think :)

That's awesome. :) :) :)

I'm watching this thread as my only boat activity this week... I hope you can find a new place to work, I know how hard that is.

Next couple weekends I'm driving the boat for other people's fun, then I winterize it and put it away so I can finish the interior space for my own winter project.

Keep at it buddy, maybe you should ask for small donations to fund your space... I know a lot of people here get their daily jollies lookin' at your progress :)

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

i just talked to searay's head office....

i was really worride about the roumor that searay used epoxy on the early boats.......

i was confused because....my hull looked like poly....a chopper gun application.

two boat buildong pros...one including the guy that made the first plug of safvara boats....said it was poly ....(this was on the inspection of the hull before the extension)

ondarvr said it was poly......

searay confirmed that between 1959 and 1995 all searays were made of poly resin......after 95....ray went to ve resin......vinyalester.....stronger than poly...but still a poly based..........

so that is a last minit scare......if the hull was made of epoxy......with what ive done....the hull would now be junk

Yeah, I think only very high end boats, or one-offs, or home built boats have been made of epoxy. It's too expensive for most mass production, even for a "quality" boat line like Sea Ray.

espically in the sixtys......epoxy would have been an experiment if anything....but they (searay) confirmed it was poly......i was shocked to learn they are using ve now.....good on them.

i dont even think the vector....(the oke mannerfelt stepped hull "bat boat") is done with epoxy.......i know they are making a kevelar/carbon fiber racing version of the vector right now....that boat is an epoxy based product.....but its needed with the kevelar and c/f. and that will be a special order from the racing pros. roumor on that one is that they are hoping for a 115 mph boat ......

btw.......im still trying to figgure out......"hot dog" :D
