Re: hull extension in progress with picks

do you have any photos of the boat, in the water, before it was dissassembled? Once it's done, I'd love to see a "before" and "after" comparison.

If memory serves the original was not a runabout at all but a 12' Old Towne wooden canoe. Oops has lengthened and widened it as well as swapped the wood out for glass while adding a stern drive, helm, seats and integral Corona chiller.

Isn't that right? :D

Man, am I ever jealous of oops' skill and patience!

will do buddie , and yep did hear of it , never played , will have to look at it again !! John

the first game.....c&c...will look allmost jokish by now......but still are really good to play.......

the platform for all the new strategy games came from the c&c base system.....you will find that age of empires is very close.......thats because the whole idea came from c&c.....

there is a disc out called the beginning years.....it has all the early games ....about 40 bucks cdn..........fantastic disc....about 400 hrs gaming time on the disc

He's going i/o.

As for the HP he's going for, I can't say but it would put my chipped Duramax to shame :)

Actually I'm pretty sure Dune2 was the first... it came out even before C&C.

Myself, I like the Dawn of War series... Warhammer 40,000 setting, and some of the more advanced features I've seen in RTSs.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Never could get into RTS games...prolly because I suck at strategy, and I hate games that make you farm supplies. I do the FPS games because it's instant action, all the time.

Oops, I think I would have been done with that hulls gel coat a long time ago...you are the perfect person for this boat project....a nutcase perfectionist!:p If you and I had been building the same boat side by side, I'd be done by now, but when you put them side by side when you eventually finished ( sometime in 2010 ), You'd be on plane faster, go faster, and not be porpoising like I probably would be, not to mention just look so much better.

Kudo's again to your dedication to perfection. ;)

PHP:
but .....i will be extending the windsheild side wings a lot farther back....the little bayliner i got for this season has long side sheilds and the wind for the passengers is minimal......but i love being able to reach out the drivers side and feel the open air.......so im at a delemma !....im either going to use a slide wind screen for the side wings.....or other .....that parts a secret.

but i will say....this boat will have a ton of things never seen on a boat before.....if i can find the time

hmmm maybe some power side shields like power windows on a car that would be really cool and really custom :D

NO JOY......:(

i guess sanding the entire hull with 4 different grits....aceitone it between....do 10 gellcoat repair areas......fairing compound....waxing the boat....flipping the hull......replacing the cap......and floating the boat was just a wee bit too ambitious

the compound is on half the hull.......i sanded and polished and aceitoned till my arms fell off.........

but i will say this......a guy that works there visits me all the time.....he walked in at around 8 30 tonight......the top of the hull on one side was done.....

his exact words were holy sh*t !

ill post the update with about 20 pics and the compounding process tommorow........im gonna go crash.........

tackelwasher.....yer off the hook ! :D

cheers

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

ok......where do i start.......

first of all ...........all the things i had to do yesterday turned out to be juuuust a little amitious for the 12 hour day.......

when i had left the boat it was finished to a 400 grit......that means i needed to go 600....800....1000....and finally up to 1500.....

i needed to find a way to do it fast but through

gellcoatingset7001.jpg

after hours and hours of sanding....this was the boat with a 800 grit finish

gellcoatingset7002.jpg

gellcoatingset7003.jpg

the side were starting to come out
