... oops! is a little more diplomatic than I am and it drives me nuts sometimes...

That is one thing I have noticed about Oops. All his postings on this site (that I have read) are consistantly diplomatic. He always has something positive to say.

For this and his tenacity in tackling this project he has earned my respect and admiration.

thank you guys for all the kind words......i really appreaceate it.....


yup no klu is my real life brother......every time he comes into town....i hook him into spending hours working on the boat.......he doesnt drink beer.....so there is a lot more for me to have during those marathon sessions

i admit i kinda blew my top when i heard what they were doing.....but i had time to get some reasoning and rationalizing in during the 10 minit drive...(mad dash) to the boat.....

they are working on it again right now....re gellcoating is penciled in for friday evening....then finished polishing by sunday........in a perfect world

I think we could all add a little tagline to the bottom corner of all of our transoms that read in small letters "oops!"

And everyone that saw it on another boat would become brothers and sisters of the water, amen.

ok....found the camera......

this thread is about showing how im doing the boat....good or bad.....so this is a gellcoat fairing stage that was never supposed to happen......

the two people that are doing the hull worked on it 5 hrs yesterday....they got the plaining surface close to good.....however the side they said was done.....wasnt.....so i grabbed a long board......and went for it

first, i spray painted the hull side......then started sanding with a long sanding hand board....24 ins long and 1 1/2 ins wide.....the long board is used to straighten bumpy areas......but being only 24 ins long.....a larger distance will have dips and high spots......

i grabbed the camera after i had allready been sanding for an hour...
in this pic.....you can see the long sweeping strolkes of the longboard

here you can see some spray paint on the bow section

these photos are from back to front on the hull......

amid ships is a real crazy area with lots of wabbles caused by the electric sander buffer the took ot the hull earlyer.....

amid ships is really tough ...as im out of steam by the time i start at either the front or back of the side of the hull....

you start at one end....and with all your might.....you press the boars to the hull and in an up and down sweeping motion.you sand the hull

as you allready know....the spray paint covers the side of the hull....as you sand the hull....the high spots dissapear and you are just left with the low spots on the hull.....these appear as dark spots left over by the spray paint.

as you can see....the black is slowly coming off

amid ships is still tough

the stern was worked on for a long time

its starting to get there at this point

as you probably can tell....long boarding is not my faveroute thing to do....but the results are starting to show

there still a few low spots

and even some crazy low spots

yes....i know i paid someone to do this....but if you want it done right....besides.....i just cant leave it alone and hope it comes out good.....i gotta do everything in my power to make it right
