im kidding.......i drove into the boat yard after our local team won the football game..... ..and every one was sitting around havin fun.....well i was toting a 12 pack of corona....i was the hit of the party.......:D

then greg and his girl showed up.......

actually.....greg is the mechanic that works in the boat yard that i rent the bay from.....his girl is a pro with vector....a gellcoat fairer.......for those of you that dont know what vector is...........its the oke mannerfelt "bat boat"

ehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boSOYErl2i8

she actually worked on these things.........

she saw the hull and said....i can fix that !.....she starts monday morning......it will take three days..........soooooo we'll see.
she was making blocking motions .....i couldnt believe it....she was running her hands over the hull like a pro .

so.....we'll see what she can do????.....but....she was certanly letting her (well knowlaged husband) how it should be done.

time will tell ??????

*******disclaimer.....im not dis regaurding her because she's a female.....its because....im looking at the hull!!!!!!......there is no doubt about her expertise******

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Your are joking about the sanding with 26 grit...........right? Anyways when I read your post about sanding with 100 grit, I was a little worried so I posted here and even left a message on your cell.

I know it will work out, it just takes a little work.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Great more pro help. Get a consult with Randy from macaw about the wet sanding and stuff. If anybody will know how to finish sanding the hull to a mirror finish he will. Personally I would leave the power tools alone as things can go really wrong really fast if you don't know what your doing. Just take a look at josh's car in the sunlight. He had a "friend" power polish it, swirls everywhere. I can't believe we left the nose like that,. This was your first shot at any kind of "body work" so don't be too hard on yourself. I've seen worse jobs come from supposed professionals on smaller areas.

I can't believe we left the nose like that,.

it was really weird....the nose was great....felt really good????couldnt see cause the colors and the light....it was longboarding really good.....

but we got 50 thou on the hull and mabe even 55 on the nose.....so well see what deana can do with it.....i dont mind tackeling it myself again.....but im sooooo sick of sanding :D and three days later....she says its done !....
if she gets it done....ill be flipping the hull soon. :)

.im gonna call the mechanic....dirk at selka and start lining up the motor install.....

ill call toucan (ulli)tommorow and see how the cap's comin.....ill be surprized if it isnt done.....

im a perfect world......it could be ready in a week or two

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

tease! :p

Wife's in Nebraska...too bad she didn't take the kids, I could've gotten more done. I'm shooting for some fishing tomorrow morning ( well, this morning actually ).

I can't wait to find out what this gal does to straighten out that gel coat.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

welllllll..........its not what i had imagined she'd do.......

"she"....is being helped by her husband......."he" decided to re fair the gellcoat !

"she" didnt agree.....but "he" (being the stronger personality).....won that desision.....

so.....with out my consent....they started to re fair the gellcoat on the hull.....that means.........RESHOOT the gellcoat.......

that was a thousand dollar decision i had no part of

the good news is.......if you really think about it....in a weird kind of way...we will be doing ondarvrs trick......just not the simple easy way he had mentioned......

the other good news is.....its coming very fast.....and when i ran down after work yesterday....a third of the boat was done....it looked and felt good....im still at the store today so i cant get out to see it till after work......but i talked to hin....and they are on it now.....

what the plan now is....to refair the gellcoat......then add another coat on top at 20 thousandths....then buff and polish that coat.....

what a pita !

but it is being done.....and it will be done soon.....

more updates tonight.....

cheers
oops

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I think I about got to the end of my patience fishing with the kids and may have torched my dog clutch in the process ( long story, don't wanna talk about it ) out of frustration. Limped back to the dock at 5mph ( was running almost 26 with a 25hp! )..any faster than 5mph and it would surge horribly, below that, as smooth as it normally runs. Grrrr...

I feel your pain/frustration oops!...at least you are moving forward though.

Time to get some more stuff done so when the wife comes home from Nebraska, she'll at least be in a good mood. ;)

Is he going to spray it for free!!! If not I'd...., well lets not go there on an open forum. He had no right to do what he did, you did not hire him to do the job. I am so pissed I can't think. Good thing i'm not there.

Let them fair the hull and when they present the bill tell them after you deduct the price of the new gelcoat you never authorized they can have what's left over if any. If they don't like it tell them to take you to small claims court.

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

I don't think it'll end up coming to that, especially if She's the one that said she could fix it and he wasn't part of the original agreement.

When it's all said and done though, that hull will be plenty sealed up! Seems like it's getting a little "extra" of everything. :p
