I'm sure you are all familiar with the final seconds of ebay bidding. Will the be a flurry of padding posts whenever someone thinks oops! is about to make the finishing post? Lol

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

Just realized I started a new page now on page 177. I wonder if Oops can finish this by page 200. Who wants to take a poll or a betting pool will Oops finish before page 200 or after? What do you think?

Um, this is only pg 45 on mine:facepalm:. I'll give him til pg 50, then hosta la visa baby! No more site visits for me!:) By the way those are the really expensive decorative plants for your flower beds around your house that you had to charge.....

Thanks for still plugging away w/ us rookies & helping out oops!

i have been thinking for a while about the final posts....

weither to do the reveal first, then the how to on the finals or vice versa.

this is because of the theme of the boat.

some people here know the theme...some people know the theme (very very few) and some have guesses.

I think im going to do the steps, then the reveal. as opposed to the other way around.

The final two weeks of the work will have to be posted all at the same time.
so that means i get to stay up all night and post so you guys can see it in its completion.

money is still a factor at this point....
since the business went down, i just dont have the disposable income i used to...and the build is 4k shy.
(man i miss the days when i could buy something worth 5k and not bat an eye.....oh well the economy is slowly turning around)

I intend on ordering the material for the interior very soon. at this point the foam for the upholstery is still a major player at 1k for just the foam. (that is even using MY contacts !)

what ever the case, i expect to be on it as soon as we get the white stuff off the ground....(in kelowna, this is just a week or two away)

Man, pains me to hear that, sorry dude. Hope the warm weather in BC helps turn it around. I can certainly wait for the hull extension project reveal, but a guy's gotta make a little scratch......

Sending tons of bad thoughts to the guys in the nearest marina, your phone should be a ringin' sometime soon w/ a new gut job ~ repair job headed your way.:D Ok, maybe it should just be good thoughts headed your way! :)

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Hey Oops, have you ever actually foamed a boat with the internal drainage system that you describe here? I am planning to do this, but not quite as elaborate. I have installed limber holes that I plan to lay a pvc pip down in front of, the full length of the stringers, so that any water can find it's way to the limber hole and back to the bilge. I was just wondering if anyone has actually followed your recommendation and done this before? I know a lot of folks say this isn't necessary, however I unfortunately have to store my boat outdoors year round, and I have to put it away wet after family outings. I really feel that the drainage system is necessary after seeing all the photos of all the boats with water trapped below the deck and rotting out the floor. My only concern with your procedure is that I think it is going to be very difficult to pull the foam back out after it cures. Has anyone done this and does it work?

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

lol.....

getting the foam cut to size....

and waiting on parts to come from china.....yep china.

i have to go to campion boats....that is by appointment. they have a little back room full of things that they have discontinued using....parts are stupid cheap...

for example....brand new bilge pumps at 5 bux each....some guy snagged the brand new bennett trim tabs i wanted....he paid 120 bux for the set in the box.

they also have lots of other fun things there like "s" curved pop up cleats....and some other really cool hardware for 5 bux each.

so im just waiting on getting the parts...

oh......the stencils for the logo are on order.....i am working with the graphics people to get them right....

as soon as the graphics are done....and the heated seats get here....i can start doing the seats.

oh......the other thing....

the dash board and console shape i made.....

063.jpg

its .....well.......just kinda plain.....not sexy enough for me.

im thinking of re designing it...

something totally different and special..... a real one of a kind.

this will mean tearing the current one off....and fabbing a new one....

then fitting the new one on .....fairing it in.....and then paint.

something more involved than this....but i like the sweeping lines and contours

2131463379_1a83b7c4eb.jpg

that process could be posted here with out worry of giving away the theme of the boat....
and i think this style of fabbing has not been covered here at iboats before.

any opinions ?.....what are your thoughts on changing the dash?

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

Hey oops I was wondering what kind of paint you recommend using on a fiberglass boat? I plan on giving my little bayliner a makeover but I want something that will last and look nice at the same time. Thanks!

Re: hull extension in progress with pics

My first post on these boards (i think) and this seems like the most worthy post to make it. I am completely motivated again after having spent the last 3 hours going through this post. I am in the middle of stripping a 1984 bayliner 15'er that I got sucked into buying and have been looking for a good source of information. I have no idea what I am doing to be honest but feel much more informed having gone though this post. Thank you !!! This project while I won't be doing near what you did is absolutely inspiring !!

really, the i liked the old dash look, that being said the new style would update it more and is sexy,,,
yep, i cant believe i am saying it( prolonging the splash again) but rip it out, try the new style, especially if it goes with the new seats and interior.

one thing,,, dont forget to fab up some of them refrigerated :Dsoda pop:D holders
cheers
