Re: hull extension in progress with picks

that means the boat will be ready for the july 1st weekend......lol...just 2 years short of the target

pshaw...the thing is the finishing, not the deadline. I like what Huron Angler said, don't remember exactly what it was, but something like "you ain't got no quit in ya, and I like that!" You've inspired (and entertained ;)) a lot of people here.

I remember reading your post way back when, asking if anyone thought it was a good idea to try to extend a boat, and the answers were mostly that you were nuts. Well, you showed them! That is, you showed 'em you really ARE nuts :D

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

you could always start with a 16' bayliner capri...with an 85hp force OB....

extend it by another 16' in length AND 4' in width...make it a closed cabin with and extra flybridge on top...and powered by 2 454's.....

just a thought
:)

While you are at it, might as well add a couple of feet to that as well!!

Glad to see things are working out. Have not been posting much, but check your progress daily.

Have a great day

Rob.

yeah, I don't know how he does it. I just spent 45 minutes with the grinder and it had me pretty well pooped out for a while. Might be different if I were 10 years younger  Sad thing is, I don't think Ward is much older than I, if he even is! <sigh>

Oh well, back to the boat! :D

It's a bit of a crapshoot getting stuff that you don't get to inspect first but at least the guy's I got the drive from have great feedback and a 30 day warranty. I just bought a quad clutch off ebay and got totally ripped off! The listing said it had 80 hours on it but it was worn so bad it would have been cheaper to buy a new one. I got a full refund but by the time I shipped it back and what the dealer charged me to check it out I'm still out $150. First time I ever had a problem. Hope the drive is good.

Just curious... why didn't you buy the drive direct from SEI? Or did you buy a brand name drive?

Re: hull extension in progress with picks

It would have been about $900 to get a new aftermarket drive landed here. A complete SEI leg would have been about $1500. With this used unit oops! can recoup the entire cost of the swap. Keeping fingers crossed. Just checked tracking, says delivered yesterday, gotta call ward.

Great for oops but bad for me. Since you outbid me on the drive I now have to find another one.

Just kidding, lol..

I actually have a rebuilt upper geared for a V-8 that I have no use for but Im not sure how much the shipping would have been to get it from me to oops since he is in Canada and I am in the USA.
