Re: hull extension in progress with picks
sorry guys....i left the camera at the shop last night.....so i guess tommorows update will be a big one......
one of the chores i had been putting off was to glass in the motor mounts and the rest of the motor cage....
this is a pic of the old one
and this is an older pic of the new configuration.
in order to tab the deck in....each side of the knees has to be glassed to the deck....
as well...the motor mount blocks (they now fill the two empty spaces on each side of the bilge) need to be glassed in to place......
not only do they need to be glassed in....i needed to fab a glass cover for them......this was done by taking a peice of glass.....attaching it to the deck, then running it down the side of the stringer (a 90 deg outside corner), to the mount block....a 90 deg inside corner, over the mount block, another 90 outside corner....then attach the glass to the side of the bilge.
that along with all the other tabbing of the deck to the hull in the kneed area...made for a lot of glassing....went thru 3 gallons of resin, and im allmost out of ddm 30 mekp......
the other night i tried to make the motor mount ledge described above with a 48oz biax material.....well....it didnt go too good......the cloth was far too thick to make the corners....(even though i had pre folded the glass and put heat to the folds......our old glassing a 90 dergree corner nemisis came back.
after a big wet out, tacking, and glassing till the sweat was dripping off my mask into the resin......it just would not work so i had to pull the peices off and pitch them out
.....
i got it all done last night with a combination of csm....veil...and 1708.....
(got more coustomers comin in....ill finish this up date in a minit)
