Re: HUGE PROJECT!! 30' Scarab Sport overhual
First and foremost, triumphrick,; Zach103, oops, striper2101, Vraijit, goovrit, and off peak thank you all very much. My sincerest appreciation to you all and your help in finding the proper equipment for my project. With that being said a few developments have taken place. I called the guy who was selling that scarab for 5900.00. He said the hull was shot, it had termite damage, and water damage ( sounds like what mine started out like). He said the ?55 hours on the motors? meant 55 hours left on the motors, basically oops you were right it would be a part out boat. And yes for a trailer and for me to sell that equipment it would have been a good buy, however I have no space for two of these puppies, the cash on hand would really be hard on me right here right now, not to mention the fact that the wife would about lose it if I brought another boat home at this point. These are all very important reasons why I couldn?t move on this deal. Unfortunately that?s how our game is played. You win some (bought the boat for 700) and you lost some (miss the 5900 deal). Im ok with it, and I have jus purchased some 2003 twin 250 Evinrudes. I paid a little bit too much for them but what?s done is done and I truly appreciate you all helping me look for motors. Your time was not wasted, it only sealed the fact that you all know where to find good deals and that I paid too much for what I bought. My fault for not putting faith in my fellow I boaters. With that being said??
I AM continuing on this endeavor and having no regrets! I feel that although I am putting a good amount of money into a 1985 scarab, I am getting basically a brand new scarab for a fraction of the cost! The boa twill be clean, soilid, and have no hidden issues that I wont be aware of. So I feel I am still making the right move instead of taking the money I am putting in it and buying something newER. You never know what you?ll find in a used boat, this way I know what I got.
So my search for motors has now switched to a trailer. A large enough trailer for a STEEL! I know you can all help me find one, and this time I promise to be paicent and wait for one of you to show me a good deal. I really don?t want to pay over 1500 for one so that give you a ball park for what kind of trailer im looking for. I have been lacking on photos because 1 the weather has been rainy and 2 I don?t have my camera as of right now. To give you an update I have the transom completely cleaned out and I am cutting (one side) on the stringer out and cleaning them out and getting ready to replace the wood in both the stringers and transom. I will however update photos if not before then by Sunday. And that?s a promise! You all know I keep my I boat promises! So thank you all again! Please don?t give up on me yet, continue to check in and read, I will also include a narrative of what was done and how it was done with the photos, take care all!!
