Now: 200 Ocean Johnson; 9.9 4s Yamaha<br />Had: 15 hp Honda; 10 hp Johnson; 45 hp Merc; year unknown 2.5 (?) Johnson (had doughnut fuel tank, rope start on top); 50 hp Johnson.<br />All were good engines except the Merc: loved the 4 little cylinders whirring away until they stopped all too often.....

ST (thread originator) isn't kidding. He bought a 65 Merc triple I had; shows up with the girlfriend, tosses it in the back of a late-model Saab & takes off all within 90 seconds. We may have to take up a collection for this young man's psychological treatment, if she doesn't toss him over a transom somewhere first. (Only kidding, Tougas - couldn't resist).<br /><br />1996 Evinrude 112 SPL (one scored cylinder)<br />1992 Evinrude 115 (VRO failure, pretty sure)<br />1980 Johnson 100 with L&S nosecone (why bother?)<br />1979 Evinrude 85 (99 inch, simple, GREAT motor)<br />1978 Merc 500 (coming out very nicely)<br />1975 Johnson 115 (currently on a 14'9" Larson; has a temp Maine sticker, no numbers, Mass enviromental police just waved when they went by!?)<br />1974 Evinrude 115<br />1974 Mercury 500<br />1971 Evinrude 125 'victim' (already had 2 melted piston tops, so I put a 17" prop on this, set the timing back 5 degrees & let my nephews have at it)<br />1969 Johnson 115 1<br />1969 Johnson 115 2<br />1967 Merc 500<br />1964 Johnson 9.5<br /><br />Motors I'd like to get: KH7, 1962 Merc 100, modified OMC V6 looper, 2 year-old 9.9.

I'm a 15 Evinrude man, part-time 25 Johnson, son of a 7.5 Elgin man. We hunt and fish Cache RIver in East ARkansas, the largest tract of bottomland hardwoods in the east.

From a nice few people in the booneys of mass.... if i remember right i hade to pay with some spare chage forgot to bring the money oopse happens every time with me! My gf tryes to put up with the motors but when i tell her i buy one a week she has a fit.... o well at least im not buying woman!

I am currently running on 2 different boats<br />92- 150 Yamaha<br />92- 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke Hi Thrust<br />------<br />80- 70 Johnson with Outboard Jet<br />78- 15 Johnson (converted from 9.9)<br />46- 2.5 Elgin<br />All the above motors are excellent runners, never been in the Yamy's other than fuel pump on the 9.9. Completley rebuilt the 15 as I bought it new & only electrical problems on 70hp<br /><br />working on <br />74- 9.9 Johnson<br />57- 18 Johnson (son-in laws)<br />87- 9.9 Yamaha (bought for sapre parts)<br /><br />rebuilt on & for sale <br />71- 40 Johnson with Outboard Jet<br /><br />to work on when I retire<br />7.5 Lauson<br />(3) 1.7 Mity Mite Neptunes

Have a '84 rude 90HP on a 16' glasser that has always performed well......except for th VRO of course. <br />Just replaced an exceptional mid 70's merc 9.8 with a '93 merc 20 HP on a 14' jon. At the moment i sure wish i had that old 9.8 back.

1956 Scott Atwater 3.2<br />1971 Chrysler 12.9<br />1973 Evinrude Fisherman 6.0<br />1988 Force 85 <br />They are all still great motors. I have never had an ounce of trouble with the Force. It's all in how well you maintain a motor. I had a '79 Mercury 8hp and it was the most high maintenance and tempermental motor I ever ran. I would buy any good Evinrude, Chrysler, Force, Johnson or Mercury motor that suited my needs.
