Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

Do you still remember your first line? "This is my video diary of my huge mistake". You sounded so small when you said that first line.

I didn't see a bit of disappointment in that last video!!

Wow just doesn't cover it. I don't know what it is, you have this quirky little style that makes these videos fascinating to watch. Thank you for the story despite the hardships! I probably groaned and cheered at every up and down!

After you've had some fun (hell, you deserve it after all that), think about some piloting videos. I think you'd put a cool spin on an old material.

Looking forward to the naming ceremony!!

I was grinnin ear to ear watchin the last vid, and got goosebumps at the de-naming ceremony oddly enough  super stoked for you and yours, as ive watched along with everyone else from the dock :D ...... I guess as they say, the lord works in mysterious ways.... Enjoy bud!

On a seperate note, I was talking to a buddy of mine telling them your story, and without realizing it I said "a friend of mine Jay" etc. etc...... Thinking back, weve never met, but I feel like were friends... All the best Jay, you earned it..... :)

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

Dang, I gotta get home so I can watch the boat in action. The vids of the Exhaust installation and the firing up of the engine in the driveway was awesome, but I can't link to vids from work... Getting off in half an hour... Great job on everything and I'm sure I'll be picking your brain for knowledge over the next year. Enjoy all the boating to come...

Got home and watched the videos... AWESOME... You did great work and I know you and yours will have a blast on her. Congratulations!!!

Re: Here I go again!! 1995 Sea Ray 220 Signature Deck and Stringer Restoration

Regaurding the tack issue. If you are set up for a 6 cylinder engine the tack expects 6 fires per rotation so at sat 3500 RPM.....

3500/6=583.33 (number of pulses the tach thinks it's getting per revolution)

583.33*8=4666.67 (number of pulses tack is actually getting per revolution)

You either need to change the setting on the tack or get a new one (IMHO).

Congrats Jay! I'm going to be honest, I have followed this thread for awhile now, check it every night. I have to say I teared up when I saw you and your dad take off. Great moment for you and your family. Cant wait for all the cosmetic videos. Have fun, boat on, and request that this thread become a sticky because you could answer any question someone has about fixing a boat in one thread.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, YOU DESERVE IT!:D:D:D

It won't be stickied but it will be copied and the copy cleaned up and put in the completed projects section as the excellent reference that it is. We can then link to it from the existing stickied How To's thread.

Congrats jay. Scipper77 already mentioned what I was going to on the tack.

As for the oil pressure, you may already know this but I'll throw it out there anyway. Typically you can not use a stock automotive sending unit. You need to get a sending unit for after market gauges. They work on a different ohm scale. Most marine gauges work on the same ohm range so any marine sending unit should work.

Hi Jay..I have been waiting for The launch video..YYYYEEEEAAA!!!..My wife came in the front room to see what I was fussin about and said...Oh he got it done..LOL.. what a great feeling to watch the launch..Hey I have a suggestion for your carpet..DECKADENCE..Its some relly nice stuff.(rubber hose off and breathable removable)They sent me some samples..It is expensive but you dont need snaps and it breathes..I looks really comfortable too. Also I have used signstoyou.com for the lettering on my boat it is great you can design the name yourself online(best price)and they shipped lightning fast I am going to have to do this same thing you did with my 86 chaparral villain III.It has at least one bad stringer and a leaking 65 gallon fuel tank And was wondering if you would sell me your left over fiberglass materials? The whole reason I found your posts on Youtube a few months ago when I started following your project. Then by found out you were a member here on Iboats.(Bonus)Thanks again so much for going through the trouble to teach everyone with you wealth of knowledge.

Rushed home from work to catch your video. Not my project, but it was still emotional for myself and everyone else. Thanks for taking all of us on your maiden voyage. Great job.

Excellent job, beautiful work, thanks for sharing this and your videos. A big Congrats from Nova Scotia, Canada. :D:D
