Don't most boats have input-output engines. Gas goes in, motion comes out.

Lol yeah, But the SS Minnow didn't have an "Input-Output" engine.

I can just about tell what happened when they listed the boat on craigslist.

The lady creating the ad gets down to where she has to describe the engine and yells out to the shop..

"Hey Biff. What kind of motor does that hurricane boat have on it?"

Biff replies, "Hell, I don't remember, some sort of I/O. Don't bother me woman, I'm busy!"

The lady goes back inside and, not wanting to trouble Biff any more, guess what i/o means and puts it in the ad. I/O. Input/Output. Seems logical, right?

You can definitely see where a Hydrofoil or something else was bolted on at one time. Yet another reason not to use them, imo.

Everyone is focused on the lower unit... what about the driver in the first pic? :D. I sure wouldn't be putting any pics with any family member on craigslist...

Yep, that would be logical if the tech wrote I/O Gas engine on a paper for the person in the office to put in the Ebay ad. More than likely exactly what happened.

1972 South Coast Boat needs tlc... and a weed whacker.
A gallon or 2 of agent orange & possibly calling in a napalm drop may be more in line w/ what that 'boat' needs:
IMHO, a weed whacker isn't even a good start:

Generally speaking, with weeds 2' - 3' tall growing in the boat there could be a slight water intrusion problem.

Depends.. I have looked at some boats where you pour gas in and it just runs out the bulge drain..

I guess ya still have input of fuel and output of fuel in that case...
