Renters abandoned it so I don't have any paperwork but I have gone through the legal process of obtaining ownership.

So... he went through the legal process of acquiring an abandoned boat, but yet he doesn't have any paperwork to prove he just spent a fair chunk of change and even more time in that process? yeah, sure!

This guy claims his 4cyl 17ft boat does 120MPH. Isn't that what the 120 on top of the motor means?

http://rochester.craigslist.org/boa/2487238797.html

I HAVE AN IMPERIAL BOAT THAT I AM LOOKING TO SELL. IT HAS AN INBOARD/OUTBOARD MOTOR.12 TO 18 GALLON UNDERDECK GAS TANK,AND GOES UP TO 120MPH,IT IS A 4 CYLINDER AND HAS A 120 OMC MOTOR. JUST REPLACED THE SPARKLUGS. IT NEEDS A BATTERY AND SOME INTERIOR WORK(FLOORING AND NEEDS SEATS).BODY IS SOUND AND HAS NO HOLES,TRAILER HAS NEW TIRES. I AM ASKING 400.00 OR BEST OFFER FOR IT AS IS..I HAVE THE TRANSFERRABLE REG. FOR THE BOAT AND TRAILER. HASNT BEEN REG. SINCE 05.

Wow- It goes up to 120 mph. Amazing what a set of new sparklugs can do for ya.

This one has it all. And when I say "all", I mean all the classic stuff.

It's a tri-haul.
It's a speed boat with 65 H.P. (Stand back when she starts up!)

Wait, there's more! Bikini top? Check! Trailer has a new axel. Why use an axle, when you can put one of them new-fangled axels on?

That is grand! Missing only trashbags stored in the boat and spelling it "trailor." "Axel" is pretty close though. The next guy knows how to do it... a good layer of leaves in the photos, and properly spelled "trailor."

1960's?? Glastron - $150 (Candia)

I have a 1960's Glastron boat with a mercury 65 hp motor on it. The boat is in decent shape and has all four seats that are also in decent shape. The engine was running about 2 years ago and now needs a new ignition coil. Trailor also isnt in that terrible of shape. Looking to get 150 or B.O. check out fiberglassics.com and you will be suprised how much these boats go for.

But it's got a Stainless Steel trailer . . .

...and a non-marine engine in a marine environment. That should last a real long time.

What a tool..

For inboard engines, I don't think that's a big deal. Sure you have Graymarine and Perkins who supply marine engines but from my experience back in the 70's, it was common to find standard Chrysler 318s and Ford 292 engines in boats from the factory. Slap some water jackets and a few other marine only components and you were good to go.

True, but today there are certain Coast Guard requirements for an engine to operate in a marine environment. If your boat catches fire and people get hurt the coast guard will be all over you for using a non-marine engine. This guy took a shortcut to get the boat operational. Who knows what other shortcuts he took?
