Yesterday i finally finished grinding down the stringer tabbing and today i swept and vacuumed up all the dust now i need to put two pieces of 2x8 under the hull as a jig to make sure the hull is not hooked before glassing commence

i have one stringer made the main keel stringer but it started to go a tiny bit moldy with black mold so i used some white wine vinegar to try remove it it slightly worked i will sand the rest off, all stringers will be given 2 coats of epoxy before being glued into place

So I am assuming you will be laying glass over the top of the plywood or will you be using it as a mold of some type?

Yeah i will be glassing it 2 layers on the outside and two layers on the inside i am contemplating using carbon fibre but the other option is regular biaxle 45 45 and woven roving and epoxy resin

i bought some 40x18mm wood today to reinforce the plywood with internal framing but its medium density board and not pine as i wanted so it just means i need to look after it as its MDF and not pine however it will be encapsulated with epoxy resin

Be careful with the hull just sitting on those rollers . With no stringers the hull will flex easily then when you glass back together your hull will be permanently crooked. Especially with adding the extra weight of the hard top ...
You can temporarily shore it up with some 2x’s to make bunks and brackets fastened to the trailer.

Hey Sphelps, i am going to raise the hull by jacking it up and placing long pieces of 2x6 under the hull before i start glassing the stringers in just haven't gotten around to picking up the timber as its 5meters long thats about 16 foot long timber i need to cart around on the car roof

What happened to the original cabin?

l have to agree with the oz local yokels who think 7mm plywood is too light for what you are thinking,
too much flex, long term durability is suss,

also to my uneducated eye the height of yor proposed cabin looks to be too high, at the very least aesthetically anyway,

windage could raise it's head as well

l've seen several fg renos locally with high modified cabins on older fg hulls like yours but rarely out on the water, usually in the front yard with a for sale sign and they dont sell in a hurry

Sounds negative l know but if l were you l would drop the height a tad and user thicker ply,

we will be using 12 mm ply at least on our gunnel and cabin repairs shortly,

but it is your boat....
just my thoughts

cheers

Hey Tassie no floor in boat yet mate so i was only guessing a height, from the old floors outer edge inside the boat to the gunnel is 600mm from the gunnel to the bottom of the windscreen is 600mm from here to the roof is 600mm so from the floor to the roof its 1800mm i'm 1670mm tall i like to stand up and drive i may being the roof down a tad bit but undecided yet

the plywood is 7mm to keep weight down its mostly a skin i have internal bracing there shouldnt be any flexing due to the inner framing

Glued in the main keel stringer yesterday but having problems filletting using 2 part epoxy adhesive also known as epoxy cream, the cream is flattening out and running down on to the hull the glue cost $150 for 1 gallon (4 litres) quiet an expensive experience

from here on i will pick up a free bag of sawdust and mix it with my 5 to 1 laminating resin
