So the white areas are the old gel coat I know that on my bilge I was told that poly resin would adhere to unwaxed gel coat. I just want to make sure I can sand the areas for bite and fair right over them.

Sides all sanded and rod holder brackets installed I decided to make a large seat pedestal to mount the console to the deck so no screws in actual deck

Looking for opinions and ideas, this is a picture if the bow compartment on my boat that I am about to install. I obviously want access to the area the more the better. I started looking at plastic hatch doors and can't really find one large enough. The vertical area measure 40" wide x 17" high any ideas

My son & I faced this same dilemma on his restore a couple of years ago Minch...he wanted his compartment as water-tight as possible, but as large too. Therefore, he/we just cut out a piece of the bulkhead in the desired shape/size, sealed & glassed it, then reattached with stainless hardware (hinge/latches). Here is what the final looks like. It is very dry, but here in Florida, almost too closed in. He leaves it ajar as it is a great spot for mildew. Just an idea.
Good luck...boat's looking awesome by the way. You're working at lightning speed!

careful there minch....when you get too good at this whole boat building thing, you become more susceptible to a financially fatal disease...multiple boat
syndrome-itis! It seems to afflict many who become extremely proficient at designing, glassing, & grinding, further complicated by those who do it in short order. Now I'm not a doctor & I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I think you are a prime candidate. Watch out....Start saying over & over now, "NO, NO, NO" just in case something tempting comes along near splash day.
